Cheers BB

I can't stand Mickelson's cherubic smile [if you believe what you hear, the over-riding majority of the rest of the players detest him], but he is in hot form and has to be top pick.

D. Johnson and L. Donald next best for mine. Badds as a roughie.

Nige [actually off on the annual Cricket Club Golf Trip to Echuca/Moama in the morning - oh, my poor liver]

Ive backed Ben Crane @ $151 to win and $100 for first round leader. I figure it was as good a research as any other...

On a side note I read today that Japanese teen sensation Ryo Ishikawa is going to donate every cent of prizemoney he makes on the golf course in all of 2011 to the Japanese Earthquake appeal. If that isn't one of the greatest gestures by a sportsperson, I'll be a monkeys uncle. What a fantastic deed by a young 19 year old man. I know he makes a mint off the course with sponsorship endorsements, but I still think it is special. I hope he has a great Masters tournament for the cause and himself. He is such a talent and a class act.

Best of luck to all who have had a wager and to the Aussies competing. I'll be up at 5am tuning in.

BB

Ryo Ishikawa is huge here in Japan , ever since he won a JPGA tour event as a 15 year old he has been in the limelight.

He handles himself amazingly well, calm, assured, he speaks with maturity beyond his years.

I think Ishikawa has the game and the mental skill to win a major, might be a bit soon but he is Japan's best chance ever

Tiger seems to have that look in his eyes.

Bolters are Rory Sabatini, Sergio Garcia and Robert Karlsson

Super work Muirs...

I spat the chips with Kenny Perry's shaky bottom hand 2 years ago and invariably find a roughie deep into Sunday from the list below... for what it's worth have backed all the following and will pay homage to the betfair screen to lay them off over the weekend and hopefully snag the winner...barracking particularly for Laird; Hansen & Kelly as have had a good go at those 3...

3. Kaymer 28
4. Hansen 450

The Masters is one of my favorite sporting events of the year. I'm lucky enough to have been there as a spectator in 1987 - a long time ago but still etched firmly in my memory.

But for the life of me I think betting on golf is the nearest thing I know to Lotto. The only time I was silly enough to have a bet on the golf I backed Nick O'Hearn EW in the Aussie Open at a long price. They paid to fourth for the place, and naturally enough he finished 5th. Every one on the PGA tour has the ability to win on a given day, and I'm sure bookmakers wish there was a golf major every week. Good luck to anyone who has an interest, but I'm happy enough to watch just for the spectacle.

Some nice bets there Jes!

Thanks for the 40's on Rors and 150's on Alviro my betfair friends!

Didn't see Y.E. finish but when I left for work Rors was on the way to leading his second major after round 1 in 3 starts! In his early 20's!

A freak, a great guy, and gets to date a hot school girl.

Go Geoff Ogilvy you good thing, isn't it amazing how money can bring out the worst in you. I apologise to Phil Mickelson for death riding his penultimate putt at the 18th but I was on GO to win their group at $2.90.

When Ogilvie's swing is on song I reckon it's the best there has ever been, hope he can keep it going. It's awhile since I've backed a 100/1 winner.

Cheers

Watched it for years but after Norman choked in 96 had trouble watching it.

Waiting for an Aussie to win is too painful.

But good start by Ogilvy and good luck to him. Very solid game and doesn't get the accolades he deserves for a major winner.

Well what a start to the 2011 renewal of a timeless classic.

My pick Padraig went like a busted. Hopefully my savers can save me.
Kaymer struggled around the course and might just be in a bit of a form lapse at present.

Early days...look for the leading score after Day 2 to be around the 9 under mark. So can't rule out anyone above the +1 mark in my opinion. Late guys today get out early tomorrow and can post a score and out some pressure on.

Big movers Day 2 for mine would be Paul Casey, Luke Donald and Anthony Kim
