If you had the money to buy Sunline, who would be a perfect mate. Often champion mares don't become great broodmares, but often I see that is from poor mating. They are usually sent to the most fashionable stallion of the time regardless of the compatibility. I am just an armchair breeder in this regard, and I have not scientifically analysed her pedigree, but I understand that there is a multiplication of Nothern Dancer influences. Would further multiplication of this influence dilute the progency?
Breed the 'best to the best', partner her with Fusiachi Pegasus?
Austrailasian possibilies to start, I cannot think of N.hemisphere, but Storm Cat comes to mind. A good mate? Northern Dancer line?
To breed just for the sales ring is a sound business proposition. But to breed real racing progency, I feel pairing her closer to her temperament would be a better option and maybe colonial stallions, would provide better results. Say 'Our Maizcay' for a great offspring, if not rather a longshot to be the prefered partner.
If she stays in NZ where she still is, I don't see Zabeel being a great option, or the Sadlers Well imports.
So I am putting up 'Our Maizcay' as the best option or a Marscay line horse, as I believe the old man is not available anymore.

I'd most definatley go to FUSAICHI PEGASUS.
If not him then, Thunder Gulch, Galileo, Flying Spur, Octagonal or Fasliyev.

Machiavellian, Darley stud's flagship sire would suit her best. He doesn't shuttle, and is £80,000 service fee. Sire of this years world cup winner Street Cry, this would give 4 x 6 x 6 cross of Natalma, Dam of Northern Dancer, with Natalma being 3rd Dam of Machiavellian. He would also suit her because he throws wondefully natured horses who are extremely good looking, you would hope ( un-scientifically ) that the resultant foal would have her guts and toughness with Machiavellian hopefully giving a bit of his refinement and class. Not only is he her best match, but anything by him generates huge interest from the Maktoums, from a pure marketing point of view this would be a shrewd move. If he / she came out correct and strong of course they would be hard to part with!!!

Give Saintly back his marbles and let him have a go. Cox Plate & Melb Cup winner sounds like a great match for the champion mare!

The odds of her producing anything good are 100/1, so the only consideration is producing something that will catch the rich mugs eye, before it becomes obvious to all.

Whoever is top of the pops, getting highpriced yearlings at the sales.
