Author: mcgarret Timestamp:- 28/10/2004 11:40:00 AM Subject: MELBOURNE WEATHER UPDATES
Message: Hi all
This is an impassioned plea for all of our friends in the great southern city, particularly those close to Flemington, to use this thread to post - and post often - on the prevailing weather conditions.
Your updates will help those of us elsewhere with our analysis for Saturday and beyond.
Message: i think we have seen the last of the showers here in Melbourne.
About 16 degrees outside at the moment - (1pm Thurs.)
From reports this morning water is having trouble actually draining off the course due to the water level of the river nearby, so regardless of conditions over the next couple of days, Derby day looks as though it will definatly be run on a slow/dead track.
With 25 and 30 forecast for Sat and Sun, cup day will depend on how much rain we get with the cool change forecast for Monday and Tues.
Before that change comes through, the track will be rock hard on the Monday, causing Dermott Weld a few anxious moments!!!!!
I'd love them to scratch VR only for the heavens to open an hour before the cup!!!!
