Subject: Best Country Cup Day

Message:
I have never been to one of the Victorian country cup days that are in abundance during the spring carnival. I plan to go to one this year and was thinking that class wise Geelong cup day may be the best to go to. What day has the best atmosphere? What do you rate as the best Victorian Spring country cup day and why?

The best country Cup day is Warnambool but thats at a different time of year.
Geelong - really good especially now that they have compacted to one day with the Cup, a quality 3yo race an a good sprint.
Cranbourne I also have found to be exciting. I guess becaue it is the first of the big six and at a time when everyone looks forward to the carnival.
For ine Werribee has lost a little ground ince they reduced the Cup from 2600m to 2000m meaning that it is no longer a Melbourne Cup qualifier.

Rogan, I've only been to a couple of Country Cup days, Ballarat when I was at Uni there, and Geelong as I'm Geelong born and bred. Both days are great fun, although Ballarat Cup day you have a few more larrikins and yobbos. Not to say Geelong doesn't have it's fair share.

For pure racing though, you're much better off going to the Geelong day.
