I couldn't remember who the options man was. Thanks for that. I actually laughed out loud when I read that list - brings back memories.

HG Nelson has written an inspired piece on the Aussie challenge at Royal Ascot. After describing the 2007 Kings Stand he goes on in detail as to what Rooting King would have done over there. Roy's training techniques and how the King always did his best work in the mounting enclosure are covered in detail.

It is on the Age website under Racing and I think it appeared on Sunday.

lol

Some of their early SOO calls from the card table on the half way line were absolute gems.

"Deborah Kerr" was inspired humour indeed.

Marginally better of course than Phil Gould spraying "unbelievable" everytime someone makes a tackle.

Roy & HG have come up with some classic names during their SOO calls.

Glen Lazarus - the Brick with eyes
Royce Simmons - the pillow with feet
Andrew Ettinghausen - The nudist
Mark Gasnier - fire up b*itch
Alf Langer - Deborah Kerr
Tony Hearne - the penalty puller

The also referred to the Walters brothers as Prune, Quince and Cumquat.

That is just what I can recall, I am sure there are plenty more.

Graham Eadie's nickname was a cracker (Wombat) as was John O'Neill's (Lurch).

Cricketers in the 70's and 80's had some great nicknames.

Kepler Wessels: Two Boats
Douggie Walters: Hanoi - owing to the fact that he got 'bombed' every night on tour.
