Message: Oh dear!! Father time and injury plays a part in a jockey's fortunes you know. I seem to remember not all that long ago, all you chaps singing his praises. How the mighty have fallen! Hopefully a change of luck and good fortune can have the man sitting pretty once again....sooner than later for your sakes I guess.

Message: Damien Oliver should be renamed the Butcher Boundless should have won but again hesitation in a big race!! If Glen Boss is Mr Cool in the big races then Damien Oliver is the big race BUTCHER!!!

Message: Not the rider he once was. And yes I am talking through my pocket. Had the biggest bet of my life on Purple Moon and he went far too early. Just had to be nursed for another 100m and he gets the cash.
Repeated the dose several times since. Can't comment on the Oaks but am glad as I backed Heavenly Glow.

Message: Oh, this ride was really a shocker. For those who haven't seen it please do so tonight, or soon, you'll feel for the connections of Boundless. His percentage of bad rides to good rides is reaching critical stage. I can't believe this is the same guy who had that midas touch a few years ago. He's quickly reaching the 'has-been' stage.

Message: Purple Moon- Went too early Melb.Cup
Princess Coup- 3 times
Magnus- 2 Group 1 seconds and got too far back in the Galaxy. (I'm being harsh here).
Sonic Express- Absolutely slaughtered in Australia Stakes behind Apache Cat. Should at least have run second.
Casino Prince- Certainty beat in Doncaster.
Boundless- The icing on the cake for me today. I thought she would lead the race but there was no urgency from Oliver in the early stages. He did the right thing by pushing forward on her to avoid being caught wide but then had to take the rest of the field up to the tearaway leader, left as a sitting shot. A bit too late to get 'busy' once the other horse has ranged up alongside too.

Message: laminate, Thanks, and you are right, Mr Hayes was a bit critical to be sure but like punters, trainers can also be unreasonable at times.
What if Craig had eased the Von and shifted him to the fence and then got beaten he would have got a proper shafting.
As someone else said in this post, it was good riding by the other jocks to keep him wide and that is true as he was supposed to be the horse to beat.
Young Shinn took a big chance on Sebring by sharing the running early and sitting very close to the lead during the running, luckily for him he was definately on the best horse in the race.
I can hear the punters yelling now if he had been beaten, they would have booed him back home to Victoria.

Message: Incognito.......SPOT ON! Bossy sweat on a run and got it, Oliver sweat on one and didnt. Had Oliver go the split CP wins....but i backed TH so i was glad he didnt. As for Von Costa (whom i backed) it wasnt the best ride of the day but give credit to jockeys inside him for keeping a dangerous horse 4 deep for the trip!
Triple Honour gets his own back after being robbed of what should have been declared a dead heat a few weeks ago.

Message: Doncaster rides worth writing about? Boss and Dye! Casino Prince should have won by a length. Those of you who think Oliver is back "in form", after a couple of winners on Saturday obviously don't punt on the Flemington races? Casino Prince "was where he was". because Oliver put him there! Replay his rides on Princess Coup?
If Von Costa is worth $10mill. Sebring is worth $30mill.
David Hayes should do less bragging and more training

Message: Slim,
I thought i read somewhere that even David Hayes wasn't thrilled with the Von Costa ride. If that report was right, i'm happy to be thinking down the same lines as one Mr Hayes. He knows a little bit about the game.
Still, this is a forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so i will take yours on board.

"Saying that I backed Casino Prince is like Nigel Tufnel claiming that he was on Casino Prince e/w after the race in an effort to grab some sort of moral high ground in one of his numerous attacks on me."
I believe the bowling was opened by yourself yesterday evening with some pop-gun 'insult' (sic)on one of the Derby threads, in addition to your way off the mark bagging of D.Oliver. Check the timestamps.
Don't know why I'm bothering, but here is a summary of my Doncaster bets yesterday:
All Silent each way; (larger bet) Casino Prince each way; - both of these 'one by two' i.e. double the amount on the place as I had them for the win; Box Quinella: these two with EQ, Valedictum & Gallant Tess (for several units); Same horses in a Flexi Trifecta.

Message: Can you remember back to happy days in the playground, when you and your mates played footy, cricket, British Bulldog (until the teachers banned it), etc. without a care in the world.
There was always one kid in the school who liked to turn everything into a rumble; who accused everyone else of cheating when it was apparent he couldn't win; who expressed a contrary view on everything, and who would invariably leave the playground bawling under a hail of stones, tennis balls and rubbish to sook to the teacher on yard duty.

Instead of b!tching about poor rides and penning a story book of excuses why don't you simply celebrate the fact that one of our great races was won by a great ride on a very good horse whose connections had to eat it the last time he raced over the Randwick mile, there's a little sweet justice in there somewhere I'd say.

Message: It is quite clear that Axl Rose has absolutely no idea about the basics of horse racing.
You should really take some time away and start studying mate if you want to have an oppinion let alone a valid one because at the moment you are only embarassing yourself.

Message: laminate, I have mostly always gone along with your posts but I have to take you to task on your critism of Williams at Randwick Saturday.
"More concerns should be raised over Craig Williams rides... Race 1 he misses the kick by four." That happens to all jockeys at times, Usually he gets most away quickly.
"He doesn't get Lazer Sharp to settle and it runs accordingly." He did his best, if you don't agree then tell us how you would have done it.
"His ride on Von Costa De Hero was not good." What was wrong with it....the horse clearly was not giving its best, probably the track condition. Again, what would you have done.
"Not a good day for one Mr Williams." Not a successful one....like Mr Beadman's, aye!
Mate, I don't know what people expect of jockeys and I won't say the obvious.
