Well done to the Aussies for getting through.

The score was 0-0 and yet again, the Aussies have failed to score a goal, and as I have predicted here and commented a hundred times, they just cannot get the ball in the net.

I hear a rumour that betting agencies are going to introduce a new bet type.

It is;

When will the Socceroos score their next goal?

The "beyond 2015" option is currently favourite but you must be patient if you win with this selection.

Can't agree with that WS. Bresciano didn't have the best of games the other night but who scored the goal against Uruguay to qualify last time? How quickly we forget! Not to mention the one he got late against Bahrain.

I think we have missed Brett Emerton quite a lot lately. He adds another dimension to the team entirely. Probably the best crosser of a ball that we have in the team and that was sadly lacking the other night.
Not sure what the progress report is on him but he should be back for the tournament next year.

Not comparing us to the French team of 98, merely stating that you don't need to be scoring lots of goals to do well in the World Cup. I suspect we can grind out the results needed in the Group stage in SA. If your defensive foundation is strong anything is possible

Bresciano gets hyped up for some reason. Not sure why when he chokes in front of goal.

Not fair comparing France with this Aus team, for starters they were playing at home and to say they didn’t have a recognised striker is a bit rich, Henry, Trezeguet were at Jacquet’s disposal .
A midfield to die, for throw in Desailly who monstered anybody who came his way they were a great great team and backed it up with a win in the Euro champs a few years later.

McDonald is a plank Phil I think I could get a few in Scotland the best chance we will have is if the Judas to shows up.

Who cares we are in the World Cup!!

Do you realise what kind of doors that opens up, what it means to the country as a whole and what it could mean to our chances of hosting one in the near future?

You can rubbish this team as much as you like.
They are now there.
The facts are they remain unbeaten and haven't conceded a goal in this second phase of qualification.

And when we get there we will give it a decent shake. Our players are committed 100%, don't lack self belief and thus will not be intimidated by any other team. That is more than you can say for half the teams that will qualify including the rest from Asia. Our players have physical presence, will have the necessary fitness levels and a reasonable amount of skill at their disposal.

France won the 98 World Cup without a recognised Striker and I don't recall them scoring an avalanche on their way to the final.

This team can only get better in the scoring department. Now that we are there perhaps we can start playing to the strengths of a few players like Scott McDonald for instance. A prolific scorer in Scotland who just needs a strike partner to link with.
Josh Kennedy looks pretty good to me and will provide a great target man for crosses into the penalty area. Bresciano, Cahill and perhaps a fully fit Kewell to back them up.
I don't see our attack being weak at all potentially.

Before the Asian qualifying campaign it was our defence that looked decidedly brittle and instead it was exceptional. Hopefully the shackles will be lifted in SA to an extent   and we can play with some attacking freedom.

Yeah fair comment Pink, need to find a Striker, with luck the Judas will return, also another central deffender. Happy days though lets just hope we draw a decent group.

A new-look Qatar raised their standard enormously and played a great game against the Socceroos. Quentin-tana played his heart out.
The socceroos are throughout without any problems nevertheless it wasn't very impressive and they will have to find another fifteen lengths in South Africa 2010.

Ask any Newcastle support what they would have given for a 0-0 result in their last Premier League match.

Excellent question betto

Unfortunately this total goose lacks the intellect, the cojones and the backbone to either produce a reasoned response or acknowledge his blatant stupidity.

"They are not in the best 32 in the world".

On fifa rankings they are 29,I can think of at least a couple of teams I would back Aus to beat every time that are ranked much higher.

Amuse me though Krapper name 3 sides outside the top 32 you think are better, this will be good and I have no doubt will show another sport we can put on the list that you are clueless about.

One reason I raised this thread was to show once again what a great judge I am. How long have I been saying the Socceroos have trouble scoring.

In fact if this World Cup qualifying to get the best 32 teams, they would s******* this zonal khrap. No wonder the Aussies qualify, look at the sporting and soccer powerhouses they meet. They are not in the best 32 in the world.

However, they have qualified and you can't do anymore than qualify to this point. Oh hang on, yes you can, you could at least score every 2nd or 3rd game.

You're right Saintly, we have done what we needed to do.

You have to look at the big picture, we've qualified.

Looking forward to once again sitting up to all hours watching the lads, hopefully this time not seeing Italians diving at critical moments.... That still haunts me...

Congratulations to the Aussies for getting through to the World Cup finals, many good teams are still struggling to qualify, or will miss out. The Aussies did enough, and that is all that matters.

As for Khrapper, you are a sad man, can't punt, can't tip football, can't tip anything remotely correct in the cricket, and even when the Socceroos make the finals of the World Cup, you find nothing positive to say.

Joke is a word that springs to mind, when trying to describe you, and your pathetic attitude.
