Message: The curtain comes down on the career of another great racehorse.
From his 3yo season and onward he won at worse a Gr2 race along the way every year, almost 5 years running. Very few can lat claim to a career like that.
The one thing that stood out with him, aside from his flashy white blaze and feet, was his will to give his all. He never gave in, even when he was never going to win he still gave everything he had right to the line.
His win in the Lightning beating a crack field when he wasnt supposed to be a 1000m horse, then backs it up again in the Aust Stakes. And he ended the season by giving Brisbane race goers a treat by thrashing the field in the 10,000 by his biggest winning margin of his career.
For me personally, his win in his first 10,000 was as dominant as you can get, it was more contempt than anything. But his win in the Moir this year was the Cat all over, he wanted to win, the people wanted him to win and he delivered.

Message: Khaptingly I think I understand what you are saying but ordinary horses dont win 8 gr 1's, as simply by definition over that period of time, he would have been racing the best on offer ALL the time and hence having his share of wins makes your comments about his ability incorrect.
Message: Just another horse...you lost money on. He's one of the few pre-race tips you ever gave and he was the first horse beaten in that race. ROFLMAO!

Message: A nice looking horse but just a reasonable performer in a very ordinary era of Aust horse racing.
Just one of around 20,000 bred each year, some go overseas but most stay here. Hardly anything of note amongst those that do stay to race here, year after year.
Happy retirement Apache, but to me as a punter, it's just another horse, and easily replaced by another few hundred or so, in the next couple of days.

Message: A beautiful horse!! I remember seeing him after the Winterbottom in Perth last year. He was the most impressive and imposing horse I have ever seen. Eurell is a true horseman, God I still remember the sight of this horse. You see this white blaze under the white blinkers, which added to his aura but seeing him up close (and patting him)was just awesome. He was trained to a tee every time This horse had presence.. All the best in retirement mate, you will be well looked after.

Message: Sad day for me I loved this bloke have photos all over my computer of him from my trip to the 10'000 last year seeing him thrash that field at the track was amazing.
Good luck to the champ in his retirement think of what he might have won if he wasn't tried out at trips that weren't suitable early on.
I for one will miss seeing this bloke go around as Tigerrish said just a tough horse that gave everything he had everytime he went out.

Message: Yes an outstanding competitor The Cat. And one will never forget Punting Patto's fantastic Apache Cat makeup episode although he applied the goo to the wrong side of the face.
It's just a pity Tiggsy with this type of thread that you can on hand celebrate a top horse yet on the other hand bag out two of global racing's great modern champions in Deep Impact and Silent Witness. Inconsistency is not a good look.
Also have to remind you Tiggsy, that 'Happy retirement, champ' is an inanity. The horse cannot read. Hope this helps.
