ill get crucified for this...
BUT..

now that the spring carnival is over the let down is incredible..

there is no interest whatsoever in horse racing here..

yes theres the magic millions in jan (does anyone truly care)

there was a carnival in perth i think (what happened?)

i have no qualms about the spring carnival being fantastic but what about the other 10 months of the year??

in the UK the flat season starts in may..
you have the 2000 guineas, the newmarket meeting which builds into the derby meeting at epsom in june..then royal ascot..then meetings leading up to the king george and coral eclipse..york goodwood chester etc..plus all the big races in ireland then the st leger onto the arc and the breeders cup..then once all thats over with theres the UK jumps in which theres the King George on boxing day and then all the build up to cheltenham in march and then the grand national in april and then we're back to may and the 2000 guineas..

its 12 months of hyped up full on G1 excitement,a continual interest in horse racing with one after the other of wonderful meetings..

does anyone else feel like this?

it just feels totally flat, next year theres the epsom and stradbroke and golden slipper etc but thats not really doing it for me,their not 3 day meetings with all the best on show i just cant wait for october/november..

are we all excited about more joyous/whobegotyou trying to win the cox plate next year??

or is the real excitement seeing So You Think race overseas..?

maybe im a biased stuck in my ways pommy git but theres something about racing here thats needs to be seriosuly addressed as it's like a pricked balloon here racing wise..

whats prizemoney got to do with viewers enjoyment rex?

wanted a normal disscusion not patriotic anti pommy rubbish but thats too much to ask on this site..

and your right eastside a pricked zeppelin is more apt !!

i do respect alot of your patriotism but it's blind patriotism and SYT won't smash their doors in the opposition will be far far superior.

I never bet in Australia in Dec/Jan or July, very boring and poor quality of horses going round.

NZ has some decent racing in these months if I feel like a bet.

But along with the spring in Aus, the Sydney Autumn carnival is great Patsy. Derby, Doncaster, Golden Slipper, Oaks etc.

My best days on a racecourse have been at Randwick.

Then on to the Brisbane winter carnival!!

We are talking about one country here, (as opposed to Europe) and nine months of fantastic racing out of 12 is not too bad Patsy!!!

So between boxing day and March England has nothing LOL

If Australian racing was so bad as you claim you wouldnt be posting on this Aussie site so much.

Several listed races and 1 grp 3 this Saturday. Looking fwd to it. Plus some youngsters coming onto the scene now too.

Magic Millions is a great carnival. Leading trainers in Syd/melb now target the races and a couple of winners have gone on to win the slipper in the past 10 years.

Aussie racing is good all year round except for about 3 weeks in between the Brisbane carnival and the southern stuff.

Pommie racing is boring all year round with their one paced plodfests. Only gets interesting when the Aussies flog the poms in sprints.

That's great news see you in the spring.

Better close down the tracks don't forget to turn the lights out.

And your first line said it all.

More aussie horses would go over there but they can't stand the winging poms.

I have invested more on the punt in Yalgoo than racing over there.

SYT will kick there doors in..

Well maybe you would prefer to be in England were we have had nothing but all weather for two weeks. In England they have a flat and a jumps season, during the jumps season the flat racing is a joke.

And the Australian system must be doing something far better than the English system, have a look at the difference in prize monies- laughable really.
