Message: Patsy old chap....
Why on earth did you not make those comments earlier in the week here if you knew the horse so well..?
I can't help myself with my next question....
Why would you back the horse considering your comments here..?
I wouldn't have touched it but for spending time with an English racing expert who pointed out some key aspects of it's racing style and opposition it contested against in it's UK racing period.
This is more about a horse being turned around mentally and enjoying the Australian climate and conditions, coupled with the trainer underestimating it's race day ability...or so it would it seem...
Someone once said you would go broke if you listened to what trainers have to say pre race...ouch.

Message: It was quite clearly a tip Infidel, and the best tip this forum has seen in many a year at that!
What an outstanding selection from an outstanding poster. Before this tip I thought Quez was the best poster on this forum, tipping this thing first-up at 180-1 fixed odds has just confirmed that. Not even Waller expected it to go close so it just goes to show that Quez is about 10 lengths in front of the trainer, and about 50 lengths in front of any other poster on this forum.
Congratulations Quez, just a phenomenal tipping display once again.

Message: After I spotted this horse I grabbed an English racing expert and he spent some time with me explaning the races it competed in when in the UK. .We watched many various replays and he pinpointed some interesting points regading jt not really being a geniune stayer and could well race ok over a shorter distance.
We both agreed it was worth an each way ticket at least as it could be very big odds. Before leaving for work I placed numerous bets on the tote, one being a small 20 ew on it. later in the day once at the track I couldn't help myself and had another 50 ew with a bookie and chipped in another 50 bucks with some mates 4 of them and we had another 100 ew at 150-1 between us.
tipped it along with another 4 horses to family and friends and they ad their 5 ew type bets and were stoked obviously.
I did back 3 horses in the race empires choice and bold glance, took a heap of multiples and missed on all of them due to leaving out hidden wonder..can never catch that stable..
plenty of losing bets on the day but overall the king of fife and once were wild made the day extremely profitable.

Message: Good spotting quez but please don't tell us you backed it to win. In your tips thread you threw it in for 4th and barely gave it a push now you're telling us it put you way in front for the whole day.

Message: A few people said they saw some bookies on track offer 400-1
There was 150-1 everywhere and bookies had no problem taking bets.
Not finding the first 4 was a little frustrating after so much tape watching. Cant complain though 150-1 puts you ahead all day no matter what happens after that.

Message: Quez,
I think Arabian Story who ran 6th in the 1997 Melbourne Cup with Dettori aboard may have also been owned & bred by Queen Eliz 2.
But MKOF is an interesing runner. Chris Waller does an amazing job with some moderately performed British horses & manages to win metropolitan races with them.
Hawk Island is the most recent case in point with his last 2 WFA efforts, whilst Stand to Gain ran a cracker in the Manion Cup. I wonder if he'll ever coax a Sydney win out of Warringah......that would be some feat!!!
