The future of golf were at KL last week.

The 4 M's.

Magnificant "Manny" Manassero, the Italian heart-throb who has amazingly won twice before his 18th birthday!

McIlroy - pure class - came back strong for third.

Martin Kaymer - world number one in his mid 20's! Routinely makes the top 10 even when he's not on song (apart from at Augusta).

Masters champion Charl - best swing in the game - and his chipping and putting aint bad either!

These 4 will dominate for the next 15-20 years. Tiger who?

Yes Bodsy, all good news at this end,

Have just returned from O/S where was isolated without any media of anything for 10 days; left on the Friday morning (oz time) of the Masters and did not get a chance to lay off any of the selections which is my usual modus operandi so had to sit tight and hope that one of them saluted...

Fast forward to last Wed, and was able to get hands on the previous Monday Euro papers to see King Charl smiling at me... needless to say... holiday well and truly paid for and could have stayed another week !

Lost Clarity and anyone else questioning the ability of the winner; consider the following and check for yourself how many previous winners in the history of the tournament have 'birdied' the last 4 holes of the Masters...

6x Winner on the Euro Tour

US Tour 2010 :
Played 11 US Tour Events;
9 Cuts made;
1x2nd; 1x3rd; 3xTop10; 6xTop25

I have no doubt Schwartzel will win more majors and he is worth backing every time he goes 'round...

Norman was about 40 with tonnes of experience and only 1 player close. This Rory kid is 21 and had 6 or 7 players chasing.

Day was very impressive over the last 2 holes while Scott played well, the missed approach on 15 and poor drive on 17 were very bad shots under pressure. Good recoveries but he needed birdie chances and was putting well.

Has any player won a major with a broomstick before? I can't recall any.

It sometimes happens in sport that one enters a magic zone where some uncharacteristic force does the work.

The Aussies played great golf with no sign of choking, but Schwartzel had a picture no one else saw. It's not to be understood, the club became a wand.

Johnny Miller did it years ago in a US Open. It usually lasts for part of a round and disappears as rapidly as it arrives.

For mine, Schwartzel has not proved a thing about character under pressure. He wasn't A1, first rate, top-drawer, he was God showing off, and it's easily possible it will not happen again.

I don't think Miller ever won another Major anywhere. But that win earned him immortality.

God I hate shotty journalism Muirfield.
Really annoys me. You are absolutely right.the 3 of them finished like a shot out of a cannon. How in Gods name is that choking?
It saddens me when people who don't know what they are talking about pass judgement.

Saw a Fox Sports interview between the presenter and a Daily Tele journo today, discussing the More Joyous v Black Caviar proposed match race. It was embarrasing to watch the journo from the Tele try and speak about something he had no idea about. He fumbled and stumbled and made the Fox Sports presenter a little jumpy in the process. It was sloppy at best.
Referred to Black Caviar as a juvenile.

Had a reasonable size ew bet on Rory @33/1 at the start of the tourny. Gave thought to laying off and convinced myself not to as I couldnt see him out of the top 5. The saving grace is at least now people will stop talking about The Sharks choke in 96 so much!!!!!

Patsy,

not so long back you were telling all in sundry that Australia were washed up as a sporting nation. Some sports you say you like are;

Golf- 3 of the top 5 at the masters (not a bad effort even if they didnt win it- demonstrates some depth in our golfing)
Snooker- current world champ
Racing- current best horse in the world who just happens to be the highest ever rated sprinter.

Didnt we also recently give the world a toweling at the Cycling World Champs?

Ok, we dont have the cricket side we once had (Although Shane Watsons innings last night was something else) but we are going along just nicely.

Correct BB.

He wins pretty much everything in SA and is a real money earner for punters. And SA now owns the two biggest majors!

I thought he'd win a major in the next few years months but his form in the US hadn't been great hence his price.

p.s. did anyone hear that pathetic Chris Bath claim that the Aussies choked today? That's the biggest load of nonsense I've ever heard. All three finished with a bang and can hung their heads up high. As can Rory who trust me is no Greg Norman. As can't you Chris Bath - get your facts rights or never pretend to know about sport again.

Good golfer on the Euro tour over the years. Seldom a year would go by without him winning something on the tour. Think he does well in South African tourneys and fairly sure he won in Spain last year.
Didn't rate him a chance because he hadn't won in the States before. Didn't think he could rise and win the ultimate prize in US Golf. But that's how greats are born.

Still doing payback, muirfield. You're a shallow little man.

One thing you can be sure of, I will never get on the net to tell people what they can find out by getting on the net themselves.

My recollection is that it was 14 and 3 at one point, as I said. Memory is an unreliable camera; the more discerning of us accept this.

It doesn't put you into foolish range if you don't know everything. Only if you do.

I had never heard of schwartzel before this. I note in the opening market here that was 100/1, so his form couldn't have been good, but he finished better than any golfer I have ever seen. And he looked so cool and composed doing it.

Actually Lost One Woods has come second 6 times.

Woods won 8 times before ever running second. He has since gone 6 v 6.

During those last six wins Woods has actually placed 2nd-6th 14 times!

Woods has never won a major unless he was leading after 3 rounds.

Ergo yet again Infidel makes you look silly.

Cheers.
