Message: West Coast - Khrapper hasn't enjoyed watching him this spring. He's done everything on him laying him at each of his previous 5 starts - what an absolute loser on the punt and in life!
Count - agree the Phar Lap comparisons were illy and premature, but I don't think anyone with any clue was comparing them, more just the silly media in this country again. But you can not seriously say that was a disappointing run today. After what he'd done this spring and pulling early I'd say holding on for 3rd was a great effort.
P.S - Phar Lap wasn't unbeaten either. He only placed in his first Cup ;)
Message: SYT was a very good run. Simply not a two miler. I noted with interest that Dato basically confirmed after the race that that was the hunch all along. They actually made that pretty clear before the race for those who know how to interpret.
I hope he's not retired but if he is he should go down in history as a champion. No not close to Phar Lap or Might & Power or Makybe Diva, but a champion nonetheless. And the best looking horse I've seen (although the only champion in the last 15 years that I haven't met in person).
Message: Yardsey, Get a clue. You're one of the multitude who've been brainwashed by the media and their out of control obsession with So You Think. They were willing him to win the Cup to justify the hype and hysteria they'd created around him, but as they found out, no one can write history before it happens.
So You Think is a great galloper who couldn't quite get two miles today, end of story, at least for now.

Message: Good to see some people have an idea. SYT ripped all the way. The fact he was still on the steel coming into the straight was amazing in itself. He was never going to be able to accelerate like he can after that.
SYT had spent so much energy in the run it was testament to the horses ability/courage that he finished as close as he did. If he had settled who knows what may have been!
Hopefully we will now see the horse in training next year being kept to set weight races wherever that may be.
International + Geelong Cup form = back in cup. Very good win and top ride.

Message: He may not be a natural 2 miler but he still beat 20 runners home after ripping all the way. Oliver Fan- are you saying he isnt any better than FOO and ES? With all respects mate- he would be to good for both of them at 2000m. Blind freddy can spot the difference in talent.

No-one knows Rex, not you or I or anyone else so let's not dissect the perfomance to that degree and effectively take away from the winner. The best stayer won the race despite his own ride, that much was clear.

Message: Hands n Heels,
Ive already wrapped the winner prior and pre race mate. My comment has nothing to do with the winner.
There will be people who will say STS isnt this or that (including those that were all over him before the MC)- mark my words- if he continues next season (injury free) he will go on to prove to be one of the greats IMO. He had no right being there at the finish the way he ripped during the race. Anyone who has ridden horses will know exactly what Im talking about.
If anything, Im even more impressed with the horse now than I was prior the MC. I clearly stated prior the MC I thought he was to explosive to win a MC.

Message: Patsy- at the risk of being attacked by the lobby "moralist" who seem to think I am on a crusade to destroy everything you submit- I still have to take you to task on this. Dont forget Im based in Europe and see these horses going around every day of the week.
You constantly tell us it takes a 2400m horse to win the MC and that is why so many Euros have failed (Yeats, Septimus etc etc), yet Americain form would suggest he is an out and out stayer.
Out of all his starts in Europe he has only ever won 2 races shorter than 3000m. One was a 1400m race as a 2yo over 3 years ago and the other was a 5 runner 2400m listed race in France as a 3yo.
Yeats and Septimus both had stronger form over 2400m. Americain form would suggest he is an out and out stayer who can compete at 2400m, or am I missing something here?
