First of all I am not religious. As I write this Greg Miles says this is a bigger storm than the day Van Der Hum won the Cup.

I say this.

The Newmarket and Aussie Cup was always run over 2 days until a few years ago.

To interfere with this carnival as it was is a complete joke. In the name of publicity, marketing and money, money, money the VRC decided to bring on Super Saturday.

Reminds me of abandonding the hurdle on Cup Day, when we had falls in the flat race that replaced it.

How appropriate the storm came in after the Newmarket.

Dear VRC. Now get back to your plans for running the Aust Cup on a separate day (and the Guineas), as it should always be.

In Australian sport, Karma keeps surfacing.

LOL Redback.

If God did back Shocking through the TAB, he/she is the only one that would be able to work out how the bet now stands.

If God really wanted to get involved in our daily lives surely he would have sent that storm about 50 weeks earlier ?

Khappo,

The only thing God did yesterday was make sure the three odds-on runners in Sydney and Melbourne all saluted.

God doesn't exist for a start and the fact that both races will be run next week makes all things ok.

I'll ask you this khap. If God does exist how can his omniscience and his omnipotence work together? The fact that he knows what is going to happen surely means he can't use his omnipotence to change things. And yes I am a Richard Dawkins follower.

If God was angry with the VRC he would have performed something more spectacular than a hail storm, like maybe sending Kevin Moses out to part the Flemington straight while the Newmarket was being run.

Well I thank god, because instead of cheering and counting my winnings on Denman and calling it a day I decided to have a first 4 in the Wiggle Quality in Sydney and got it up for the full divy.

Lord I shall forever be at your mercy.

Khaptingly,

Your inference is that 'God' is angry with the VRC. If you knew anything about karma, you would realise that it is a concept fundamentally incongruous with punishment.
