I love the week before the Slipper when the horse that's going to win doesn't run and a fickle public thinks it sees runs that make a difference.

Brightexpectations is the talk of Sydney Town. It beat nothing. Let's see how he goes under pressure.

And a back-up for a two year old. Gee, doesn't the prestige get to them.

I'm waiting on a marble, I suppose, but I think Military Rose is exceptional. I see no reason why she won't won't cane him again.

A one-out quaddie leg coming up.

Keep talking up the others, see if I can't get $3.50 or more. If she draws out I'll still back her. She had a few putty pounds last time.

Context!
Try and understand it a bit better Weight Special.
Within the world that is this forum and to those that inhabit this forum, you are rather unsavoury.
Outside of this forum you don't exist to me or anyone else here. You are a nobody.
I was not commenting on your status as a nobody outside of this forum.
On your question about who the he'll I am?
Just another nobody like you having his say in this forum. Don't let it bother you.

Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm one of the nicest most generous people you will ever meet.

Who the hell are you? I've barely even heard of you before.

Exciting win by CL. Reminded me of Encounter but just got there. Another 50m into the crowd.

Make that past tense, Henderson. They're two year olds who have had the rest of their racing days sacrificed by those who get sucked into the hype of the biggest two year old carnival, race, on the planet.

Thank you Gay, thank you Clarry, thank you David and thank you those who aspire to do what they do.

The Slipper was a great race of speed horses and a case could be made for about 10.
Some people found the winner, like Timeform who gave it 122 then backed off . Why ???
The 1 barrier was always a risk but she prevailed.
My heart bleeds for the connections of Masquerado who had to scratch. His formline proved superb.
I think we have some good gallopers went around in that Slipper

You've had a bad week, muirfield. McGarret is the best racing mind on here, and even if he isn't, it's not infidel. Not only are you lousy...

Come on Infidel.

You have possibly the best racing brain on here so don't have a sook and begrudge us who worked out the race early - especially Steve. I don't want you two fighting as people of your stature should join forces!

And stop dissing Stratum! Clearly the best 2 year old and now smashing his arch rival Snitzel as a sire too! Very unlucky as a 3 year old. Boss clearly didn't suit him (and he wasn't his best in Melbourne) yet he still nearly won the Newmarket and arguably should have retired with victories over the great Takeover Target and the pretty great Glamour Puss.

The leading first season sire of two year olds in Australia!

Don't pay Infidel any attention rump.

He initially got dirty that he didn't have a clue how to sort the race out - so he rubbished the race before it started.

Then he got even more dirty because he didn't back the winner - so he rubbished the winner.

Then he got royally dirty becasue a few of us had the temerity to explain how we found the winner - so then he rubbished those who backed it.

And he still gets his weather forecasts off the evening news!!

Very funny stuff.

Superb entertainment.

Ragamuffin gunner. Unsavoury Character is all part of being on a forum.
No one could be here for further education.
Has to be an ulterior motive for latching on, so we will presume you are here for an ego boost.
Please speak of the highly thought of Mr Special with respect.

"Crystal Lily reminds me very much of her sire: started off looking average: came good close to the slipper against the second-raters: won the slipper well: never sighted again."

I think your a bit harsh on her Infidel.

In the spring she ran 2 solid placings in black type races. First up on australia day she smashed her rivals, she was then nearly a month between runs going to 1200m in the dimaond and ran fairly well. She then backed up again the week later and smashed her rivals again. She then went to Sydney and gave them a hiding in the Sweet Embrace. And then she won the slipper.

I'm not for one moment saying she will go on to dominate as a 3yo, but as a 2yo I think she has been far more impressive than Stratum was.

You would need to be a crystal ball reader to deduce with any accuracy that one of these horses would be past their peak on Golden Slipper day, and the other at its peak:

Horse 1:

13 March-1200- 1/11
27 February-1100-1/11
20 February-1200-6/15
26 January-1000-1/13
3 November-1000-3/16
14 October-1000-2/8

Horse 2:

20 March-1200-1/8
9 January-1200-1/16
26 December-1200-1/13
12 December-1000-1/10
24 October-1010- 1/9

COME OFF IT IT, NOSTRADAMUS!

You got lucky, for reasons that probably have nothing to do with Military Rose being past her peak, and everything to do with the track surface, or just dumb luck.

Good stuff Steve.
Great analysis of things. I do believe that I alertedthe forum of the fact CL was the one on the rapid improve and would smack 'em slightly earlier than you but you worded things better than I did.
I'd like to thank all the Sydney punters for ignoring her as well which enabled me to secure juicy odds on IAS best tote price.
Was an easy day actually. Faint Perfume into Typhoon Tracy into Danleigh into Crystal Lily in a formula 2,3 and 4 parlay. A few grand better off at the end of the day. A rarity for me but a pleasure all the same.
Well done to Weight Special as well. A rather unsavoury customer but he alerted us that Military Rose may have not much left in the tank. Spot on.

With regard to your question thus...

"Where do you find a horse from a Blue Diamond failure winning the Slipper?"

Like I said - right on this site.

This site gives you a pretty good base line - and free - ratings system.

It costs $16.50 a month to watch all the Sydney and Melbourne videos online eslewhere.

That's all you need to work out that the Blue Diamond run - after a 26 day break - was an abberation.

Put a line through the Diamond effort and her form was simply exceptional for a Slipper.

She had been beating up on good fields and - most importantly - been running very fast times from the front of the field.

Herman,
When you break your 8 year duck on this site and tip a winner yourself, then you can bag others.
Until then, back in your box bozo.

I had a small bet on Crystal Lily today and won enough for a couple of slabs.

I've given the beer a fair bit of a nudge and am inebriated enough for a public performance.

I'm not on for karaoke but do impressions....see if you can get this one.

"Military Rose was never a chance...she went over the top after her last win.

I laid her and won a fortune...that's why I am a winning punter..."

Three guesses who this is

Well done Eastside.

I backed her, but had heart palpatations the last furlong. My comment that

"only concern is that she seemed to want to switch onto her Melbourne leg a couple of times last start, hopefully that experience the Sydney way of going will fix that up"

turned out to be prophetic.

Unlike my other 2 tips, which were just pathetic.

Very good filly nonetheless.
