Message: With the win of Lights of Heaven in the Brisbane Cup today, and in the twilight of his career, Zabeel now stands alone with the only sire to have sired a winner of every major cups race in every State/Province in Australasia.
Melbourne Cup: Might n Power; Jezabeel; Efficient Sydney Cup: Gallic; Jessicabeel Adelaide Cup: Gallic; Zavigte Perth Cup: Respect Brisbane Cup: Lights of Heaven Hobart Cup: Zacielo Darwin Cup: Activation Auckland Cup: Jezabeel; Able Master; Bazelle; Our Unicorn; Zavite Wellington Cup: Six O'Clock News
A fantastic achievement that now stands alone and is unlikely to ever be surpassed.
Message: As well as all his great racehorses, including many good jumpers as well, Zabeel is known in the equestrian sports field as a top class sire of showjumpers, eventers as well as plenty of show winners at the Royals over the last few years.
As a top class all round sire I think he does stand alone.
Message: A great record.Does anyone know if any of Dahar's sons stand in Australia. Gee I liked them, they didn't start to run until 2800m. It would be nice to know how a Dahar Pentire or Zabeel cross would turn out. The Pig.
Message: Some good thoughts here. But one horse you have all left out is Reset. He was unbeaten on the track and is now getting good winners. I think his son Vatevai will go close in the big cups this year as he a very dour stayer.

Message: It is odd he's never won the NZ Oaks, but perhaps the race being run in January until recent years is part of that. Like the VRC Oaks maybe it just came too early.
This year he went within a nose of winning it via Zurella, and appears in the pedigree of the winner Artistic via Darci Brahma/Grand Echezeaux and 3rd placegetter Quintessential via Fast N Famous/Zalinda.
He's also been the damsire of the 1000 Guineas winner Planet Rock, Derby winner Silent Achiever and Ocean Park.

Message: Might have to restrict it to Australia-I don't think Zabeel has sired a winner of the other feature Cup in NZ, the New Zealand Cup (G3, 3200m, Riccarton, November).
Just about every other decent staying sire in NZ seems to have one of those, including two other sons of Sir Tristram in Grosvenor and Yaminan Vital. Sir Tristram also sired the 1987 winner Empire Rose.
Message: Chuck in the BMW, Metropolitan, Caulfield Cup, Monnee Valley Cup, The Lexus (Hotham)and you have every major staying race including the Sandown Classic, Manion Cup, Chairmans.
All the derby's inc SAF & HK bar the WA, all the oaks bar VRC & NZ and a couple of VRC Grand National Hurdles, are also on his resume.
Fastnet Rock looks to be taking all before him except Zabeel.
