Very keen on Bradley and I've backed him big time at $2.70.

Top 5:

1) B. Wiggins
2) C. Evans
3) J.D.V. Broeck
4) C. Froome
5) F. Schleck

Thoughts?

Brad Wiggins was absolutely awesome. The SKY team superb. Such depth, perfectly executed strategies, magnificent discipline. It may have taken 100 years but the British have finally conquered France in the most emphatic fashion.

Did you get a gander at Wiggins elliptical chain ring ? This is not a new idea, but has been around for as long as the bicycle itself but apart from the Biopace chain rings marketed by Shimano about 25 years which made a bit of a splash elliptical rings have never really taken root in the mass market.

Wiggins rings are more eccentric than Biopace and now doubt the engineering will have improved. He is not the only rider using them, but he is the only rider using them that has gutted an individual time trial the way Wiggins did last night.   I expect that Wiggins time trial will herald another elliptical age.

"Backed Rolland at $15 to win KOM."

Well he's certainly one of the more entertaining bets I've had. He's had two crashes, won the highest stage and now everyone in the peloton hates him.

I can only wonder what he has in store next, running over a dog like Casar, running across a field carrying his bike like Armstrong, getting Hoogerlanded into a fence perhaps.

I'm having a couple of bucks a day on Cadel in case the unthinkable happens to Wiggins. Cadel out to $34 now.

Could tonight be the night for Sandy Casar in the Pyrennes? He's been quiet the last couple, hopefully steeling himself for a big effort.

"I,ve had two shoulder recos from too much sport" ...yeah right, Lister. We have heard all that before, playing down the grades now to give the other future champions a go et al. I fully believe you have had two shoulder reconstructions, ten wrist reconstructions and numerous dislocated fingers, but not from sport.

Agree that it's less captivating this year, it is turning into a walk in the park....just a bit too much.

MD I think what has changed the last couple of years is there is less dopping and everybody is hurting and fairly even,we don't see the massive attacks on the climbs, no Pantani's who can and have put 8 mins on the field on the HC.

Still enjoying the Tour but can't seem to get as much into it this year. I think A Schleck and Contador being out, plus the fact that it just doesn't seem as interesting a course is a big factor in that for me. How good is the Sky team - completely dominating in a course that is perfect for them this year. Wiggins will achieve just about the softest win I can remember - Apart from the time trials where he is superb, he won't have to do a thing other than take the wheel of one of his fantastic team mates.

I can't explain it otherwise Betto.

Looking at the personnel of BMC there doesn't seem to be any climbers that can ride with Evans when the grades get tough and I can only assume that is intentional. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. BMC have done a good job of keeping Cadel out of trouble and prominent through the flatter stages at a fair clip. Evans is not only a strong climber he is also fearless on the descents, so the BMC lads might have their work cut out regrouping to catch their man up to escort him to the next climb.

On the other hand SKY are doing a great job of riding with Wiggins but pack riding the mountains could take its toll on their soldiers.

I am surprised at how quickly people are dismissing Evans. I reckon if he was offered his current position, less than 2 minutes behind Wiggins at the half way point, with the serious mountain stages ahead of them, and all in one piece, I reckon Cadel would have taken it. The tour is a long way from over.

I don't think any team would be leaving the head on his own at any stage if they could help it Tonto, hoping that first Mountain stage was a rest day for his team but I doubt it.

Froome is riding out of his skin also. But both of them putting the Olympic Champion and World Champion to the sword in a TT and by so much.....what can you say about that?

I do rebuilds and restorations. Ebay is my friend.

Half of my ten are for the market. The other five are mine, and I need more than one because cycling is my principal means of transport.

I have a grand tourer for the long hauls, a hybrid rigged for shopping and my daily commute, my Sunday best for the weekly outing and a pub bike that needs no explanation. The fifth is a 70 year old english roadster for showing off. I was offered 20 times what I paid for it on eBay - and I knocked it back ! I am a fair wrench but a lousy business man.

Wiggins has a nice break on Evans after the time trial but can he stay in touch through the mountains ?

Much depends on the team strategies and Evans seems to be deliberately riding the mountains solo while Wiggins depends on his teammates to bring him through the climbs.   BMC seem to be delivering Evans to positions from which he can assault the climbs then he is on his own. That's not a criticism. That seems to be the game plan.

I've had two shoulder recos from too much sport and as such found it very here to ride a road bike. Had a Puch and it was a wonderful smooth ride. Heavy frame as it was over 20 years old but a real classic. Ended up giving it to a mate who has at least 10 bikes. He converted it to a gearless road bike. Too much hard work for mine.
I'm currently bikeless.

Tonto,

Why do you own 10 bikes? Heard of Ebay?

I own 1 bike and I wish I had the motivation to ride more often.

Go Cadel....

I don't know much about cycling.

I do really enjoy the Tour. It's a supreme test and the scenery is spectacular. Pity it is continually marred by drug cheats.

I do have the ability to spot a big noter clear as day. Even the day after.
