Message: I was checking things out on another forum and read that FOO may have been retired due to a bad back. Not sure how true it is yet, but........

Message: The only ones that over-rated he aussies were the aussies, I don;t think the horses were very well fancied overseas, the fact Fields Of Omagh started $3.90 on SuperTAB was ridiculous considering he was 40/1 over there.

Message: With the way horses are bought and sold these days, whether they are an "Aussie" horse or not is largely a matter of luck
Don't forget Silent Witness is Australian-bred, as are a big percentage of the horses that race in HK. If he had stayed with David Hall, we'd all be crowing about how good our Aussie horses are

Message: I wasn't, I knew that that were all over-rated here when they left. Sad thing is Australia doesn't have a Champion at the moment. I've said this before in re: thats why they're all over-rated. and I coped it off some and some said that it was only one race. The facts are that we don't have a top liner, thats why Lonhro keeps winning, thats why Field Of Omagh won the Cox Plate and thats why our duds are running in HK and not doing a thing.
Message: You are entitled to your opinion Benny but it's out there.
You mustn't rate horses such as Northerly, Lonhro and Defier?
I stand to be corrected but I highly doubt FOO has been retired. He was also meant to be retired after Japan and of course that was nonsense.
FOO is possibly the best performed horse in the country. You are a brave man writing him off. I think he'll have a great Autumn (on the proviso that he gets over the o/s voodoo).
Message: FOO will infact be given a long spell and brought back for another crack at the cox plate in 2004. He is no cat but IMO he is only good for 2 runs per prep. He cant keep it up once he has reached his peak. Examples being Toorak/Cox and last year His 2 starts before the Australian cup.
Message: Its where it belong imo. I know it ran second to northerly bla bla and won a cox plate bla bla but this horse is a deadset cat if you ask me. IMO a true champion can run well if pace is on or if the pace is slow and can win from the front or behind. This is NOT so for FOO,unless he gets the cushy run he is useless.
I might seem a little harsh but this has been my opinion since about his 3rd or 4th start. This is one horse i have never warmed too. Oh well of to the pal factory FOO
