21/11/2008 Galloping Hill - Lightly raced filly that stepped up in class last start and ran a terrific race. Sat just off the leaders who all dropped away and she was able to stick on only beaten by a few very smart backmarkers. Looks to be capable of winning a handy race or two.
21/11/2008 The Martialist - Won a recent trial at Cranbourne in good style on his way to making a race debut. Had plenty left in the tank there and should run a bold race when he steps out on race day for the first time.
20/11/2008 Hey Rosie - Talented mare that has run two good races now since resuming. Last start she ran home nicely amongst some top line mares and was beaten just over a length. Will be fitter for that and should improve stretching out over further.
20/11/2008 Millennium Express - The track scouts tell Hawkeye that this talented filly from the Waterhouse yard is working well and is ready to make a winning return to race day. She is one from one at the races and three for three at trials with no horse having finished within three lengths of her to date and there is no reason why that won’t continue when we see her next.
20/11/2008 Rock Me Baby - This David Payne trained filly took on the best as a 2yo and was not far off the mark. She has trialled well of late winning her most recent trial in good time. At this time of year she should have class on her side and she can make a winning return to the races.
20/11/2008 Norteno - This lightly raced 4yo by Octagonal continues to improve and is putting together a handy record. Made it three from four this preparation last time out with an impressive come from behind victory. It will be hard to stop him making it four from five.
20/11/2008 Mine in Time - This 3yo from the Moses yard showed plenty of ability with an eye catching win on debut. Went to the front and kicked right away in the straight when the others racing on the speed dropped away. Will win again.
18/11/2008 El Daana - After a terrific run in the Myer Classic where she was without luck this mare from the Hayes yard was gallant again running third in the Matriarch Stakes. Looks likely to head to Perth where her best form will see her hard to hold out in some good races.
18/11/2008 McClintock - Returned to racing at Randwick after showing ability in his first preparation, never running outside the first two in four starts. Sat outside the leaders here and showed far too much dash in the straight to win comfortably. Looks to have come back a better horse with Hawkeye seeing plenty of wins on the horizon.
18/11/2008 Espurante - This lightly raced mare resumed with a terrific run at Randwick. Had a big weight to contend with but still showed a turn of foot running a brave second. She measured up to some very handy gallopers over the autumn and with further improvement on her first up run she is going to have a touch of class on most rivals at this time of year.
18/11/2008 Voice Commander - Backed up a fighting win at Rosehill by measuring up to some handy ones at Flemington. Only beaten by the talented Vigor there which, if his preparation continues, will see him winning races.
15/11/2008 Lord Monty - Strategic sprinter who resumed with a good run down the wrong side of the track on Stakes Day. Won the ‘outside race’ comfortably finishing fourth overall. Form early in the year around horses like Turffontein and Rightfully Yours looks very strong and should see him winning races this time in.
15/11/2008 Vizard - A winner of 10 of his last 11 starts, with the defeat being a narrow second, says it all about this talented galloper. The stars of Australian sprinting are heading over to Perth for the summer carnival but this lad will keep them honest at the very least.
13/11/2008 Idolised - Hawkeye hears whispers that this horse is set to make a winning debut. Track scouts say this Fusaichi Pegasus 3yo has been working brilliantly and won a recent trial in very impressive fashion. One to look out for.
13/11/2008 Beaming - Looks a smart galloper in the making and showed it running some fast sectionals to beat a fairly good set of mares first up. With the carnival winding down and the top liners heading to either Perth or the paddock Running Bear is finding it hard to think of any sprinters in the eastern states likely to knock her off.
13/11/2008 Starring To Win - Another of the ‘to win’ horses from the O’Shea stables living up to its name by doing just that, winning. Trialled well before making his debut in what was a reasonable midweek field and was able to put them away fairly comfortably. Should be more success for this lad in the following weeks.
13/11/2008 Secret Flyer - A win does not look far away for this talented son of Secret Savings. Tackled a strong race at Flemington on Cup day and hit the line as well as any, apart from perhaps the highly rated Daintree Duke. Finished fourth there but will no doubt find softer races in the coming weeks where he will take plenty of beating.
12/11/2008 Cellini - This More Then Ready filly made it two trial wins in a row and in fine style at Randwick recently. Ran the fastest time of all the 1050m trials for the day which should have her tuned up for a bold effort on debut.
12/11/2008 Elusive Song - This 4yo by Elusive Quality is yet to make it to race day but a recent trial win suggests it won’t be too much longer. Ran good time there and looks capable of making a successful debut.
12/11/2008 Oroya Gold - Talented galloper broke a fairly long run of outs for a horse of his ability with a strong win on the weekend. Has measured up to the best in Perth but had developed the habit of finding one better. This recent win may set him on his way to converting these good runs into good wins.
10/11/2008 Hussta La Vista - This lightly raced Hussonet mare showed a fair bit of ability early in the year and looked likely to be a stakes grade galloper. By those standards her winter campaign was fairly modest but her recent return indicated she may be ready to deliver on that potential. Hawkeye thinks she is one to keep an eye on.
10/11/2008 Theophorus - Hawkeye, like most punters, loves a horse that keeps on winning and that is just what this talented 4yo is doing. Backed up a dominant midweek win with a fairly comfortable win at Rosehill and looks to have the scope to improve further again.
10/11/2008 Parfaits - This mare returned from a spell in good style with a win that suggested she has come on quite a bit since we last saw her. With continued improvement from that run she looks capable of coming on further and winning more races.
7/11/2008 Swift Alliance - After performing strongly in trials this 3yo colt made an eye catching debut at Canterbury. Sat outside the leader and had far too much dash in the straight there. Looks capable of building a good winning record in the coming weeks.
7/11/2008 Retail Choice - The Waterhouse stable look to have a talented one on their hands here. This well bred 3yo had the track scouts talking after his very impressive win at the recent Rosehill trials. Clocked a good time there and will take plenty of beating when he arrives on race day.
7/11/2008 Tenant’s Tiara - Hawkeye hears from the track scouts that this lightly raced mare has come back in terrific order and is ready to make a winning return to race day. Won a recent trial in slick time and should have a touch of class over many of her rivals over the summer months.
