Monday, 11 February 2008: Smart sprinter Bundle O' Gold is off to Hong Kong to the stables of David Hall.
The South Australian sprinter, a winner of four of his last five starts, has been the subject of a number of international offers since his Zedative Stakes win but one trainer Paul Seater couldn't refuse.
Clients of David Hall have purchased the horse, who has passed the vet tests, and will resume his career in Hong Kong soon.
Seater and his wife Sue are part-owners in the horse, and not only that own the dam and two younger siblings.
The Murray Bridge trainer said it was a hard decision to make but a right one given their circumstances.
“As a trainer you never like to see them go but we had to be realistic about the offer – I've never seen a lame $100 note,” Seater said.
“The Zedative win made it much easier as it gave the dam a black-type winner and we've got two foals from her. One is by Neilo and is ready to be broken in and we also have a weanling by Keep The Faith who looks a replica.”
Seater said he had received numerous offers from parties interesting in buying into the chestnut but was keen to see him go to David Hall, a fellow South Australian.
“He was about to be loaded onto a float when the offer came through from clients of Davids,” Seater said. “He passed all the necessary vet checks and assuming the money arrives he will officially be sold on Wednesday.
“We've had a good association with David in the past with some other horses and he took good care of some runners of ours when he was training in Melbourne.”
Bundle O' Gold, by Devaraja, has raced nine times for five wins and has failed to weigh in only once.
