Sportingbet Australia has framed an exclusive market on the Horse of the Year title following
Apache Cat's historic win in the Doomben Ten Thousand on Saturday.
Sportingbet chief executive Michael Sullivan said
Apache Cat is the only horse that can be considered as a genuine challenger to Weekend Hussler.
“We have rated Weekend Hussler as a $1.55 favourite with
Apache Cat just behind him at $2.40,” Sullivan said.
“Punters can get at least $11for any other horse to win the title.
“Weekend Hussler and
Apache Cat have clearly been the two dominant horses in Australian racing this year.
“It is a hard task to split them, when neither has put in a poor run.”
“Weekend Hussler's six Group One wins means he has to be a slight favourite but a number of them were in restricted races for his age while
Apache Cat has taken on all comers.
“He might be the outsider but I still think
Apache Cat has a strong chance of getting the prize over Weekend Hussler.”
Miss Andretti and Takeover Target are the only other horses quoted in a market dominated by sprinters.
