Saturday, 30 August 2008: Improving filly Shine On Anna will get the chance to take on the best of the three-year-old fillies after an impressive win in today's Blue Ribbon Day Cup (1400m) at Caulfield.
The filly, a daughter of Anabaa, has improved at each of her five runs now and recorded two wins on end at her last two starts.
After breaking through over 1410m at Flemington last start and putting away today's stronger rivals, she will now head towards the Thousand Guineas in October.
Today, Damien Oliver patiently rode the filly out the back before coming with a sweeping run to score over Fly Higher and Sparks Fly.
Trainer
David Hayes said
Shine On Anna
is finally putting it together and will now be tested against tougher grade still.
“She's always shown more than her raceday form,” Hayes said. “She's just been an immature filly. She'll definitely run in the Prelude now and then who knows.”
The Thousand Guineas Prelude is over the same track and distance in three weeks time, before the Group 1 Thousand Guineas over a mile at Caulfield on October 15.
