Tuesday, 9 June 2009: Star Perth sprinter Scenic Blast has had a helping hand from one of Britain's leader trainers in preparation for his assault on Royal Ascot next week.
Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam, a dual-Derby winning trainer, was asked by Danny Morton, who prepares Scenic Blast if he could provide a suitable partner for a workout on the Al Bahathri Polytrack at Newmarket.
"Danny Morton asked if he could work his horse with mine over 1200 metres," Chapple-Hyam said.
"Beforehand, he was worried about being able to lay up but I don't think he had too many worries."
Dual group One winner Scenic Blast, who arrived in Newmarket last week, is to run in the King's Stand Stakes next Tuesday and may back up in the Golden Jubilee Stakes on Saturday week.
Scenic Blast clinched a trip to England following his outstanding performances during the autumn carnival in Melbourne.
The four-year-old won the Group One Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on January 31 and Group One Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at the same track on March 7.
His only autumn failure was a luckless fifth to Swiss Ace in the Group One Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield on February 21.
