Speed Gifted has my attention too now. Add the fact that Freedman is looking at maybe skipping the Caulfield Cup to avoid a possible penalty and taking WFA path in the Cox Plate points towards a single focus on the MC, with a nice weight too. ”

No I don''t have an interest in her it''s just my opinion. I just think that her run from the tail of the field in the metrop was full of merit. I''m not saying shes the next Pharlap by any meens I just think shes a better horse than her form suggests! If I were to class EVERY horse as you say I do that starts in a group race the whole metrop field would be group performers but they are not. Simple as that ”

andyg..I am as bad as the next when it comes to bagging some form but we better take note that Speed Gifted ran the [ heavy ] course record for 2400 on Saturday .8 of a second faster than Viewed''s 2400 Eagle Farm 2400 [heavy] record. Thats a lot of merit so on 53 in the MC i am now a convert. ”

Hi jupiterush,do you have an interest in Nothin'' Leica Cat.Your idea of "Group performer" differs to mine.Apparently if a horse starts in a Group race, you class it as a Group performer.Just have a GOOD look at her form...May 09 beaten in a Maiden at Warwick Farm.Since then had 8 starts for 1 win at Gold Coast(5 horse field),and in the other 7 starts she has been beaten a total of 26.5 lenghts.I don''t know how she qualifies for a run in any GROUP races. ”

I think Kirklee''s will make a mess of them in the Caulfield, Metrop form is suspect at best, Fiumicino would need a lake to win. Aside from Efficient, Australia''s staying ranks are ordinary at best, I actually wouldn''t be suprised if the Internationals trif the Caulfield, and 2,3,4 behind Efficient in the Melbourne, enjoying the 415/1 I got for kirklee''s into Efficient. I will not be backing Whobegotyou in the Cox either, Maldivian for one is a better horse over a mile and a quarter and is proven, and the other perth horses run on Saturday was a brilliant trial for the plate ”

ratings1 if you read my comments again I didn''t declare any of them them genuine group 1 horses or even cups hopes only saying that they were GROUP performers. If horses win group 1''s doesn''t that make them group performers????? Nothin Leica Cat hasn''t done alot as yet but did run great races in group 1''s and group 2''s through the autumn and winter running 3rd in the Adrian Nox, 4th in the AJC oaks and a 6th to Court Ruler in the QLD derby. ”

Hi Jupiterush, love your comments. But really you shouldn''t mention the word "genuine group performers" when comparing Newport,Fiumicino and especially Nothin'' Leica Cat.The latter has won 1 race and that was a race at the Gold Coast in a field of 5.(And I don''t think the also rans have won a race yet).Newport and Fiumicino shouldn''t waste their connections money by paying up for the cups.Fiumicino has probably got about 2.5 kgs more than he should have.Dont forget he ran last, last year with 56kg on a good track. ”

Fiumicino lol what? He''s won two $2m races. ”

Given there are no champions in the Caulfield Cup, it will be the fittest, best weighted runner that will win . On a rain affected track it will be Speed Gifted or Daffodil. ”

"lol" seriously? If winning 2 group 1''s and being placed in another isn''t a group performer I don''t know what is. He''s not the top level but competes in it race after race. maybe you should do your research before mocking others comments because you''ve just made a fool of yourself ”

Fiumicino lol ”

Yeh I agree with you there Stevez. The only horses I think are genuine Group performers are Newport, Nothin'' Leica Cat, Fiumicino and the winner. But I reckon when it comes to a staying test between Master O''reilly, Efficient, Viewed and Speed Gifted. The other 3 have got a few lengths on him in my opinion but time will tell whether I''m right or not.

I know he won well, but a lot of that field were what I think are Saturday Winter-class horses. He had conditions to suit and horses that might have tested him weren''t suited by the ground. I am still to be convinced he is up to Cups Class. Hasn''t put a foot wrong yet and we now know he can handle a bog. ”
