Wednesday, 25 November 2009: Tallow raced into contention for the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy at the Gold Coast in January with a barnstorming first-up win win at Warwick Farm today.
The lightly raced three-year-old filly, trained by Anthony Cummings, was having her first as a three-year-old after showing potential last season when she raced twice for two thirds including A Listed placing in the Keith Mackay Quality at Randwick.
Cummings has a big opinion of the John Singleton-owned bargain buy and confirmed a Gold Coast trip was booked for the filly.
"She has started to get her act together now and she has a very bright future in front of her," Cummings said.
"She is eligible for the Magic Millions and there is where she is heading," he added.
Winning rider Glyn Schofield was impressed with how the filly hit the line after covering extra ground during the race.
"She is a beautiful filly and she gave me a very impressive feel," Schofield commented.
"Today might have been a little sharp for her and when she gets over a trip it will be more to her liking."
Tallow raced away to beat the favourite Ready Miss by a length.
Schofield had a mixed day as he was fined $300 by stewards for a breach of the whip rules on Gaze On at Rosehill last Saturday.
Nash Rawiller copped a $500 whip fine for his riding on Thunderbirdsarego in race five at Warwick Farm and apprentice Kody Nestor was fined $200 for his whip use on Tempo Manor in race seven.
