Thursday, 29 July 2010: Richard Hannon has an embarassment of good 2yos so it was not surprise when King Torus
took out the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood, with Richard Hughes timing the run to perfection.

And then they combined again with 3yo Canford Cliffs who produced a stunning run to hold out Rip van
Winkle in the Sussex Stakes.
Crown Prosecutor had been fancied for the Vintage Stakes as he has a devastating turn of foot but he
clipped heels adn never really got back into the running, leaving the coast clear for King Torus with
Stentorian finishing well and Major Art in third.
Premio Loco ran third in the Sussex Stakes but unfortunately the race was reduced to 7 runners when
Beach Lodge was scratched, and third didn't pay.
On Thursday it's the Goodwood Cup G2 over 3200m with 12 to run and the possibility of some pointers
towards the
Melbourne Cup. Age of Aquarius ran second in the Ascot Gold Cup and is 11/8 here ahead
of Tactic at 3/1 and Purple Moon, no stranger to the
Melbourne Cup at 6/1, and Godolphin's possible
cup runner Kite Wood at 13/2.
The King George is also G2 over 1000m with 17 contestants and while there are a lot of the usual
suspects there will be a lot of interest in the American runner Starfish Bay, trained by Todd Pletcher -
he's quoted at 6/1 along with Group Therapy and Astrophysical. Triple Aspect is at 5/1 and you cannot
ignore Borderlescott at 11/2.
There are 13 fillies inthe Lillie Langtry over 2800m with Godolphin's Flying Cloud considered a bit above
most of these so she's 11/4. Polly's Mark has a couple of seconds in her latest outings and is 4/1, but
we like Ship's Biscuit (Stoute/Moore) at 5/1 and Eastern Aria is 8/1.
