As a $1 punter and a raceday casual who by domecile, has worked at eight different clubs in 3 eastern states, it certainly is time to standardise the minimum bet prior to and at the jump of a race all day on a National scale. Not like after 1pm in Vic where the punter becomes "reserve grade" because he refuses to play and pay 3 times the minimum $1 all day bet as in the Unitab model.Do your homework as to why older punters give punting away.As a travelled Australian who understands each states''idiosyncracies in regard to behaviour and culture, IT SURELY STANDS TO REASON THAT THE ADOPTION OF "HIGHER MINIMUM BET PRICES BY VICTORIA"
IS LACKING IN A BELIEF OF ITS BASIC PRODUCT IE BETTING AND RETENTION OF ITS CUSTOMER.What with comparison with the hotel business now destroyed and failing (due to its failure to keep, retain the older (BOTH SEXES MIND YOU)drinker, even now the industry, in droves, is returning to hotel management techniques, style and decor, it is any wonder why hospitality mgt has failed due to high prices, overeliance on elitist food styles discriminatory marketing and biased youth orientated customer practices.
Customer feedback is discouraged by the continuation of escalating of new ways to market both these industries.By concentrating only on marketing for the new prospective member or young racegoer this overlooks the anomaly of the minimum bet price.
Just like gen x with their overzealous adoption of "gi joe culture/expression about life/values" as opposed to all other generations retaining australianisms without discriminating against other races or culture, the tide is now turning to return to practises suitable for Australian ways/culture ,even in this globalistic world market. This is no jingoistic rant but factual about changing circumstances.
Start thinking administrators and commentators what you dish out comes around and if the product or service is sub-substandard or if described as in your generations dialogue "unacceptable"
trouble can only manifest itself.........
