Tuesday, 9 August 2011: Nominations have been released for the Equus Awards, South African racing's "Night of the Oscars" honouring the equine and human achievements for the 2010/2011 season.

Meanwhile Mike Bass, having won his fifth consecutive Cape Trainers Championship title and ninth overall championship, was honoured at the Cape Owners & Trainers and Cape Breeders Awards last week.
The Bass-trained English Garden was acknowledged as 3YO Male of the Year and What A Winter received the award for Champion Sprinter.
Stable jockey Karl Neisius was awarded his 8th career championship title and third in successionw while Marsh Shirtliff was awarded with the Achievement award.
Hassan Adams and his champion Past Master were bestowed with Owner of the Year and Horse of the Year.
Adams also collected the juvenile male of the year award for his Australian imported colt Gimmethegreenlight.
The Cape Breeders awards acknowledged super sire Jet Master with his fifth consecutive title as Champion Stallion of the Year while Klawervlei scooped the honours for Cape Breeder of the Year.
