Friday, 16 September 2011: Godolphin's Melbourne Cup ranks have been bolstered by the arrival of Modun from the Sir Michael Stoute yard.
The four-year-old gelding links up with Sheikh Mohammed's powerful operation after winning the September Stakes at Kempton on his last start.
Modun
is poised to have one run before taking the plunge in the Melbourne Cup, in which he could be joined by fellow Godolphin inmates Lost In The Moment and Cavalryman.
Racing manager Simon Crisford told www.godolphin.com: "
Modun joined our team today and he might run one more time before starting quarantine for Australia.
"We also have Lost In The Moment (53kg) and Cavalryman (55kg) entered for the Cup and we will decide on their possible participation after we see them in their next races."
Modun would have to shoulder 53kg in the Flemington highlight on November 1.
It has yet to be finalised whether he will run for Saeed bin Suroor or Mahmood Al Zarooni.
