The Godolphin stable finalised its Melbourne Cup riding arrangements overnight with crack UK jockey William Buick flying to Melbourne for the ride on
Modun's stablemate Lost In The Moment.
McEvoy was the number two jockey behind Frankie Dettori for Sheikh Mohammed's operation during his successful stint in England and has been the first choice for Godsolphin horses when they have raced in Australia./
He is stable jockey for the Sheikh's Darley stable headed by Peter Snowden in Australia.
Modun
, to carry 53kg in the Melbourne Cup, and
Lost In The Moment
, also on 53kg, are trained by Saeed bin Suroor.
Modun is a new addition to the stable, having been trained by Sir Michael Stoute until after his win in the September Stakes at Kempton last month.
Buick, one of England's top young jockeys, is stable rider for John Gosden at Newmarket.
It will be his first riding visit to Australia.
Both horses arrived in Australia last weekend and are being prepared at the Werribee International Horse Centre outside Melbourne.
They were ridden by stable track riders when they had their first serious canters on the Werribee track on Saturday morning.
In another carnival development the John Moore trained stablemates
Mighty High
and
Silver Grecian
are returning to Hong Kong after disappointing performances.
