After a full week of rain and a heavy 9 track on offer,
Red Tracer
still remains unbeaten on rain affected tracks from three attempts after a dominant win today.
Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by High Bowman,
Red Tracer jumped well from her barrier and took a sit behind race leader Montana Flyer.
Early in the run the margin between the leader and
Red Tracer was a few lengths but as the field rolled along
Red Tracer edged closer and approaching the turn
Red Tracer levelled up.
After the field turned for home it was evident who the winner was going to be.
Red Tracer was travelling easily while her rivals began to falter.
With 300m to go Bowman went for home and
Red Tracer put her rivals to the sword.
Crafty Irna
and
Older Than Time
finished off well but the race was never in doubt for
Red Tracer who eased to a comfortable win.
At the line the margin was two and a quarter lengths to Crafty Irna with a further length and a half to Older Than Time.
“Like all of our owners, we are starting to get a family environment happening and people like Geoff and Mary have been great for me,” Waller said.
“Geoff has been like a father to me, just hiding behind the scenes and it is great to be able to get winners for people like that.
“She is (tiny), obviously a full sister to Shellscrape and she was similar, and full of heart, and they winners races by being consistent, like she has been.
“There is no such thing as an easy win, I don't care what horse you are, whether it is Black Caviar or a maiden at Kembla, they are all hard to win regardless of prices, you still have to do it and she did it very well.
“It was nice to see her do it that way,” Bowman said, “She is a group one filly, she hasn't won one yet and she may not but she is up to that company and that is what she needs to be doing to be competitive in a
Coolmore (Classic).
“Chris's horses are good here, they train on the course proper, they know when to pick up, Montana Flyer was just dropping off and (
Red Tracer) was just getting into gear.
“It is a nice feeling and a privilege to ride horses like her.”
