Superb Run Continues For Coolmore Graduates

Tuesday, 8 May 2012: The fantastic run of success being enjoyed by graduates of renowned nursery Coolmore Australia continued on the weekend with group race wins for well-bred fillies Amanee and Florentina.

The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalfia owned and bred Amanee, a Gr.1 winning two-year-old in July of last year, returned to her very best form with an eye catching win in the Gr.2 Greyville KRA Fillies Guineas over a mile. Arguably the best filly of her generation in South Africa, Amanee displayed a slick turn of foot to scythe down her rivals in the final half furlong to win going away by three-parts of a length for a fourth career win.

Another well-bred filly, the John Camilleri owned and bred Florentina, claimed her first score at stakes level when returning from a break to take out the Gr.3 Gold Coast Guineas over 1200m. Coping well with the heavy track, Florentina quickened smartly down the centre of the track and stayed on strongly to win in impressive fashion by a length.

A daughter of the beautifully bred Peintre Celebre mare Celebria, also bred at Coolmore, Florentina is a half-sister to the Gr.1 winner Gathering (Tale Of The Cat) and hails from the family of other heralded Coolmore graduates Redoute's Choice and Manhattan Rain.

The success of both Amanee and Florentina continues a remarkable year for horses 'raised and grazed' at Coolmore. 2012 has already brought Gr.1 wins for Invest (Dehere) and Niwot (Galileo), as well as maiden stakes wins for the likes of Sea Siren (Fastnet Rock), Niagara (Encosta de Lago), Atyeb (Rock Of Gibraltar), Risk Aversion (Encosta de Lago) and Vatuvei. All told, Coolmore has been the source of 11 individual stakes winners since the turn of the year and the farm is quickly closing in on the impressive tally of 100 individual group stakes winners since the commencement of operations in 1996.

If there''s a horse that I''m excited about it has the be Manhatten Rain. He is a magnificent animal, he has a perfect pedigree and I am certain he will be a great success at stud. I just hope he gets some good black type mares to prove himself. ”
