Thursday, 7 June 2012: A filly by champion sire Lonhro topped the second session of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast on Wednesday.
Presented by Tyreel Stud, the filly was purchased by Macau based brothers Nicholas and James Moore as agents for a client from China for $160,000.
The filly is the third foal of the unraced
Fusaichi Pegasus mare Paris Tryst, a daughter of the former champion racemare Let's Elope.
Paris Tryst is therefore a half sister to three stakes performers headed by the G2 winning sire Ustinov.
She was one of eight yearlings to sell for six figures on a solid day of selling.
Well bred colts by Redoute's Choice and
Fastnet Rock were next on the leaderboard, both selling for $150,000.
The Redoute's Choice colt, a half brother to the Group winner Carnegie House, was purchased by Sydney trainer Gary Portelli from the draft of Baramul Stud.
Leading Melbourne trainer Mick Price struck with a $150,000 bid to secure the
Fastnet Rock colt from My Dream Girl, offered by Royston Stud.
Hong Kong based agent Willie Leung, operating under the Magus Equine banner, was the biggest spending buyer over the two day sale, signing for seven lots at $558,000.
New Zealand's David Ellis finished with four purchases for $395,000 headed by Tuesday's sale topping Sebring-Bramble Rose colt for $230,000.
Mick Price led the domestic buyers with four lots purchased at a spend of $297,000.
Other significant buyers included Andy Williams' World Wide Bloodstock from South Africa and top Singapore trainer Theo Kieser.
The select component of the sale grossed over $7.7 million for 241 lots sold at an average price of $32,012.
The clearance rate rounded out at 74 per cent - well up on last year's 70 per cent figure.
"It was a satisfying sale," Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.
"Results across the board are in the same line as last year and that is positive.
"The most pleasing aspect of the past couple of days had been the spread of buyers, both domestic and international."
A general session of weanlings and a racehorse sale will be held on Thursday.
