: Mere centimeters denied a TAB Sportsbet customer of a massive multi bet dividend on Saturday.
The punter needed the heavily supported Rue Maple to win at Flemington for a collect of $139,860 and had the agony of watching the mare finish the closest of fourths in a blanket finish.
The punter had placed $15,000 at $9.32 on a three-leg fixed odds racing multi bet. Rue Maple was the last leg after the first two legs were successful.
The multi bet started with $2.40 winner Grey Assignment in the first race at Ipswich and was followed by Eucumbene winning race 4 at odds of $1.85 at Rosehill.
Rue Maple was the final leg at odds of $2.10 in Race 5 at Flemington.
Rosehill winner Eight Straight and Belltone, the Eye Liner Stakes winner at Ipswich, landed some of the day's bigger bets.
Eight Straight, after opening at $2.70 on Wednesday, started at $1.85 with TAB Fixed Odds, landing bets of $5000 at $2.50 and $10,000 at $1.90.
Belltone was well backed at $3 to win the Eye Liner but one punter played safe by investing a place bet of $20,000 at $1.50 on the favourite.
