Wednesday, 20 June 2012: Frankel was an absolutely super winner of the Ascot opening race, finishing 11 lengths to the good of a reasonable Group 1 field.
Excelebration tried to stay with him but when Queally asked the question the result was 11 lengths. Side Glance was third.
The King's Stand was again a result for the "colonials" but not as expected as it was Hong Kong's Little Bridge with Aussie Zac Purton in the irons who got a great victory defeating Bated Breath and Sole Power. Ortensia seemed to be on her toes a lot before the race and suffered from a bumping duel which didn't help her cause. Luke Nolan's mount Medicean also flew home at 33/1 for fourth money.
The St James's Palace was the source of many hard luck stories when The Nile broke down and this impacted on several runners, but it was Most Improved who got the verdict from the eye-catching Hermival who flew home, with Gregorian third and Born to Sea fourth.
The Coventry was another victory for Dawn Approach who was 3'4 length the better of outsider Olympic Glory 20/1 and a neck back to Cristoforo Colombo who had his chances/ Favourite Sir Prancelot was fourth.
