Wednesday, 20 June 2012: Handy galloper Jugahlation can break through for an overdue win in today's Mimco Handicap (race 4) at Sandown Lakeside.

The lightly raced gelding has run three good races this campaign and looks ready to break through over the 1200m journey today in this RB82.

Prepared by the Brideoake and Feek stable at Mornington, Jugahlation  was sound in four runs last campaign, finishing off in open class at Flemington when eight up the straight.

He resumed over 1200m here in this class and after drawing the inside settled just behind the lead before having to check off heels in the run home. He was shuffled back but found the line well late when third, beaten by a long neck.

Up the 1200m straight at Flemington next he settled midfield in the pack before working his way into the clear with two furlongs to go and working home soundly to finish a length fourth.

Last start, here on the Hiollside course and up to 1400m, he had a big weight but a good gate where he sat just off the lead before looming up but finding one better, runner up and beaten only three quarters of a length.

Today's race is no tougher but he drops a couple of kilos on last start.

Although drawing wide he should be able to cross and sit just off the speed here and on his recent efforts he rates highly and looks close to a win.

There are some big multiples going on the gelding after the results at Ascot last night with the wins of Frankel and Little Bridge so just be cautious of the tote prices.

The Mike Moroney trained Dead End  is a promising winter grey and can run well here fresh.

The lightly raced gelding, a grey five-year-old son of High Chaparral, was a fast finishing fifth in this grade fresh up last time in before sitting closer here second up and scoring a determined win.

He then went straight into the rich Golden Nugget at Ballarat and after sitting off the speed worked home steadily for a close up fifth.

Next start was a luckless sixth at Geelong over 1500m here he had a wide gate and came home well without being allowed to let go, pocketed in the straight but finishing only 1.5 lengths from the winner.

Last start, up to 1800m at Flemington, he raced on the speed but faded badly in the straight, the vet reporting he may have jarred up so was spelled.

He returns at the perfect time of year for him now and is suited over the shorter trip fresh.

With the inside gate he should enjoy a good run and with any luck in the straight should be hard to hold out.

Locke's Choice  has placed at his last two starts on the Hillside course and looks an each way hope here.

The gelding ran on well to finish third after a short let up two back then led last time in heavy ground and boxed on well for a length third.

This is as far as he wants but he looks well placed here and the small field suits.

On My Command  won his last start before a spell and with a sound fresh up record should run a bold race here fresh.

The gelding won at Moonee Valley last time by leading throughout and with his good speed will give them something to catch again today.

He has won two races fresh and is comfortable in all kinds of conditions.
