Saturday, 19 July 2003: The Sydney Turf Club has received a surge of enquiries from punters seeking information about the Rosehill Gardens Melbourne Cup Picnic Race Day on Tuesday November 4.
Phone enquiries for Rosehill Gardens/Melbourne Cup dining packages, general information and sponsorship have been keeping STC staff much busier than usual, as the word gets around on the subject of where the ‘hot spot’ will be in western Sydney this Melbourne Cup Day.
STC Sales & Marketing General Manager David Craig confirmed, “ Sydney Turf Club has recorded a growing demand from punters, social clubs, small offices and individuals, looking for the “true racing experience” in celebrating Melbourne Cup Day, so this year Rosehill Gardens Racecourse will be open to the public on the day for the first time while holding actual races.”
There will be five races on the Rosehill Gardens Program covered by bookmaker services. Tote facilities and bookmakers will be available for all away meetings including the exciting racing action at Flemington and featuring the race that stops a nation, the Melbourne Cup.
STC expects that the spectacle of horses running around the Rosehill Gardens track, plus the annual excitement of the Melbourne Cup, will prove to be a major attraction for people.
Call (02) 9930 4000 or visit theraces.com.au for more information. General entry is $15 (children under 18 free) with dining packages starting at just $30.00.
Mr Craig continued, “ Sydney Turf Club is very excited to be hosting the first of what is hoped to become a tradition in Western Sydney, the celebration trackside at Rosehill of the race that stops a nation - The Melbourne Cup.”
