Thursday, 28 June 2012: Lightly raced galloper Resolvere can continue his good form in today's Quest Apartments Werribee Handicap (race 7) at Werribee.

The six-year-old was a fats finishing fresh up winner at his first run from a long break and can make it two from two this time in with a win in today's RB72 handicap over 1100m.

Prepared by Darren Weir, the grey was a soft track winner five back at Mildura before running on for sixth with a big weight at Swan Hill then went for a spell.

He returned with a below par run at Echuca in the spring of last year then battled home steadily over 1300m at Stawell, finishing fifth and beaten less than two lengths after being held up on the turn.

But he didn't race again for almost eight months before returning recently at Hamilton in this grade over 1100m.

There, on heavy ground, he settled well back and turned last as he eased to the middle of the course but unleashed a big finish out wide on the course to score a last stride win.

It was a good run from the young apprentice and an excellent return after such a long break.

Today he will strip much fitter and although up in weight has the services on leading heavyweight rider Brad Rawiller.

He is a second up winner, a last start winner at the trip, is a winner in the conditions and has a big finish.

He will go around each way odds today in this tougher assignment but can only be improved on the fresh up run and looks a great chance of being in the finish again.

The John Salanitri trained Invincible Jess  will find this easier than her last run at Flemington and also looks hard to hold out.

The lightly raced mare resumed over 1100m at Ballarat in slightly easier grade and after covering ground from a wide gate boxed on well for second.

She then went straight to Flemington for the straight five furlongs but was squeezed out at the start and settled midfield.

There at the tower she couldn't match the finish of the others and ran seventh.

The jockey reported she raced flat and it was probably no surprise after trying so hard fresh on heavy ground.

Salanitri has given her a few weeks to prepare for this and she drops in grade today.

The trip suits and she can bounce back to her best here.

Consistent galloper My Survivor  is resuming but is yet to miss the placings fresh and should run well.

Last time in he raced six times for two wins and four placings, including a win and two minors here at this course.

The win was in this class and at this trip.

He finished off the campaign with a Pakenham win in this grade.

He is yet to miss a place not only fresh but at this track and at this trip.

He has drawn well and should be prominent throughout.

Ortayga  appreciated the easier grade last time to finish runner up and in the same class here looks an each way chance again.

What A Beauty , stablemate to Resolvere , is the pre post favourite but drawn wide and might want a bit further.
