Wednesday, 4 July 2012: Handy filly Savannah Dancer will appreciate the longer journey when she contests today's Windy Peak Handicap (race 4) at Gosford.

The three-year-old ground home over a shorter journey last time but stepping up to a mile for today's non metropolitan winners race will suit ideally.

Prepared by Chris Waller at Rosehill, the former Kiwi resumed at Ellerslie with a close up fourth over 1200m then placed there over the same journey before heading to Australia.

She kicked off for Waller over 1400m at Randwick and after drawing the outside gate and settling a clear last she worked through the pack in the straight and ran on hard into third behind Our Girl Charlize.

She surprisingly went back to 1200m after that run and yet again drew the outside gate, settled last, and wound up strongly to finish third, beaten only half a length behind Secluded.

Last start, again at 1200m in this class at Canterbury Park, she drew the inside gate and wasn't the best away so was well back on the inside throughout.

Caught up in traffic coming into the straight, she worked home steadily to finish fifth behind Lisa Lost It when only beaten 2.9 lengths.

Savannah Dancer  steps straight up to a mile now which should suit and she has a lighter weight and inside gate.

Corey Brown goes aboard today and with the easier tempo she should be closer to the speed and hard to hold out.

Lightly raced colt Plutorius  is fitter for one run from a spell and well placed at the longer journey today.

Prepared by Kevin Moses at Randwick, the colt, a son of Holy Roman Emperor, is a former Irish galloper who was seventh over 1400m on debut then won over a mile at his final run before imported to Australia.

Over 1200m at Canterbury at his Australian debut, he settled last on the inside before working home strongly to finish third.

It was a sound debut and a good trial for further.

He will strip fitter today, be better for the experience too, and is suited at the longer journey.

He looks a strong each way chance with the light weight after the claim.

Full Blast , prepared by Darren Smith at Newcastle, looks suited at the longer journey now and with a lighter weight should prove a leading player.

The gelding scored recent wins at Newcastle and Kembla Grange, before heading to town over 1400m at Warwick Farm.

There he settled well back and worked to the line steadily but lost his momentum when running into traffic and finished seventh.

Last start, over 1400m again but back at Newcastle, he got well back before hooking into the clear and running on well into third.

He drops a couple of kilos today after the claim and has drawn well.

The gelding is at his top and looks an each way chance.

Flying Bay  has won tow of her last three runs and should give a huge sight despite the wide gate.

The filly leads throughout at her recent wins at Kembla Grange and Newcastle, the latest by four lengths.

This is a tougher assignment but she drops 4kg on the win and is suited at the trip.

She has drawn wide here but will cross and give a big sight at each way odds.
