: The points allocation for the 2011-12 Bart Cummings Medal has moved 'behind closed doors' in the lead up to the announcement of the winner at racing's Night of Champions.
Leading Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman has enjoyed a remarkable 2011-12 racing season and deservedly holds first position on the BCM table with 59 points.
However, with quite a few weeks of votes still remaining, anything is possible with Chris Waller (53 points) not far behind Bowman. Gai Waterhouse sits in third spot with 49 points and Jim Cassidy on 45 is just four points behind.
2009-10 BCM winner Nash Rawiller rounds out the top five with 30 points.
Points in the BCM are determined by the opinions of a panel of leading racing media figures (6-4-2 on a Saturday and 3-2-1 for midweeks) and are tallied over the racing year to determine the winner of the Bart Cummings Medal, culminating in an awards night at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on Thursday, 16th August 2012, which will also showcase highlights of the racing calendar.
This special award, named after legendary Randwick trainer Bart Cummings, acknowledges consistent, outstanding performances amongst jockeys and trainers at NSW metropolitan race meetings throughout the racing season.
