Thursday, 5 July 2012: A guest appearance by former champion sprinter Takeover Target will add to an exciting mix of racing and entertainment in Grafton this weekend.
A huge range of racing activities are on offer from July 7 to July 9 in conjunction with the running of the $50,000 Black Auto South Grafton Cup (1600m) on Sunday.
The meeting is the traditional Ladies Day of the 10-day Grafton Cup carnival.
A special highlight of the weekend will be a Ladies Day Prelude Luncheon, to be held on the banks of the Clarence River and hosted by Sky Racing's Bernadette Cooper.
Champion thoroughbred Takeover Target will be present and will have his portrait painted during the function by renowned artist and Grafton local Julie Hutchings, a director of the Clarence River Jockey Club and married to former champion country jockey John Hutchings.
Sunday is the second day of the 2012 XXXX Gold July Racing Carnival and promises to provide quality racing and entertainment.
Fashions on the field will be a highlight as the prestigious title of 'Lady of the Carnival' is decided.
The racing is followed by a Ladies Day after party.
Grafton is the tenth destination in the TAB Saddle-Up Sundays calendar, which showcases iconic country racing and unique holiday destinations. The initiative is a joint partnership with Racing NSW and Tabcorp.
