Sunday, 8 July 2012: TAB Sportsbet punters were on the money in the early stages of today's Rosehill Gardens meeting.
Sherocksmyworld, Your Song and Soledad were all heavily supported and saluted the judge.
In the opener, Sherocksmyworld was backed in from $4.80 to $3.60 and attracted one bet of $10,000 @ $2.90, while others included $5,000 @ $2.70 and $2,000 @ $2.90.
Your Song started a warm favourite and attracted one bet of $10,000 @ $1.25 to place along with $5,000 @ $2.10 for the win. Despite drifting in betting from $2.00 out to $2.35, it won easily.
Finally, Soledad was $4.20 into $4.00 and attracted plenty of money before leading throughout to take out the third event on the program.
Exceptional plunge
The money began to come early for Exceptionally in the Banjo Patterson Series Final at Flemington this afternoon.
When TAB Sportsbet released its market on the race last Wednesday, it opened up Exceptionally at $12.
Punters immediately began to nibble away at the juicy price and saw it firm dramatically heading into today's race.
Such was the weight of money that by jump time Exceptionally started equal favourite with Streaky Fella at $4.80, and clearly held the most money of any runner in the race.
The Dean Yendall-ridden galloper didn't let its supporters down and was an impressive winner over Streaky Fella, with Crafty Cruiser winding up third.
Wipeout in Winter Championship Final
It was a very rough result for punters in the Winter Championship Final at Flemington this afternoon.
Glaneuse's upset win at $40 caught most people by surprise.
With Galileo Gold ($20) and the easing There's Only One ($6) filling the minors, the exotic dividends were quite juicy for anyone lucky enough to grab a slice of them.
For Victorian TAB customers, the First 4 paid $89,630 while on the NSW TAB it returned $60,468.
Menados, the heavily backed favourite, was $5 into $3.40 but failed to figure in the finish.
