Mia China Doll wins again at Belmont

Thursday, 12 July 2012: Promising Helter Skelter filly Mia China Doll confirmed her trainer Simon Miller's confidence and judgement when she ran away to easily win the 1300mtr 3yo 1mw by 2 lengths at Belmont on Wednesday.

Miller was very dogged about Mia China Doll stepping up in class. “Her first up win was outstanding, we had to use her up early, push forward and the fence was off that day and she was in the slow lane and still quickened and it was a really dominant win. Her work on Saturday morning was ridiculous, it was probably the quickest I've ever clocked one at Ascot”

The Aquanita team now has an ironic decision to make because Simon applied blinkers to fire the filly up in her first race start, but after her relaxing front running tempo, all jockey Peter Knuckey had to do was rate her accordingly and the blinkers might now have to come off.

Mia China Dolls emphatic victory also moved jockey Peter Knuckey one step closer to pegging back William Pike in the Perth jockeys Premiership. Knuckey completed a treble with the victory.

A Saturday plan is already being plotted for the daughter of the flying Helter Skelter. Mia China Doll was selected from the 2010 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Sale for $25,000. The filly's Catbird mother Le Cat is a ½ sister to the very smart Perth sprinter Wolfe Dreams and is raced by a group of well known Perth racing identities including Western Australian Turf Club Committee man Peter Gangemi.
Helter Skelter is standing again at Stan Johnston's Craiglea Stud for this breeding season and Stan has committed a strong book of well bred broodmares to ensure finding future race stars of the son of Piccolo.
