Ortensia improved on her King's Stand failure to finish a creditable fourth in the July Cup at Newmarket in wet conditions unlike anything she had previously experienced.
Messara says he is keen to keen to try his luck again at York next month.
"She hated the track, didn't handle it at all and she'd never run on ground anything like that before," Messara said.
"On that basis it was a huge run and we'll see how we go in the Nunthorpe."
The Nunthorpe (1000m) on August 24 is part of the British Champions Series.
Former Australian Soul, a Group Three winner at Newbury on Saturday, is among the entries for the race.
Soul backed up his fine fourth behind Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee at Ascot with his first victory since being transferred from Darley Australia to Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin operation.
