Thursday, 19 July 2012: Trainer Gregory McFarlane has lodged an appeal against the severity of a four month suspension imposed upon him by RNSW stewards
McFarlane pleaded guilty to a charge issued under AR178 of being the person in charge of a horse brought to the course for the purpose of engaging in a race and a prohibited substance having been detected in a sample taken from such a horse.
The horse in question, Biggietupac, finished third in the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 75 Handicap at the ATC meeting conducted at Wyong on March 7.
Biggietupac was disqualified from third placing under AR177.
The appeal has been set down for August 10. McFarlane continues to train under a stay of proceedings.
