Red Dynamite looms as spring prospect

Sunday, 29 July 2012:

She's A Fox and Urquidez were impressive two-year-old winners at Warwick Farm on Saturday but 24 hours earlier another youngster stamped himself as a spring prospect at a country track.

Rosehill trainer Tim Martin chose a low-key debut at Goulburn for rising three-year-old Red Dynamite but he will now step the promising colt up to stakes company on August 11.

Red Dynamite cruised to a 3-3/4-length win in the 1200m maiden with top Sydney jockey Corey Brown making a rare trip to the country to ride him.

"He won very well and I took him there just to get a win on the board," Martin said.

"He's always shown good ability.

"He'll go to the Rosebud now in two weeks and then hopefully keep going.

Red Dynamite's debut win has him at $51 with TAB Sportsbet for the $1 million Group One Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 15 and Martin has that race in his sights.

"Hopefully he can get there, but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself," Martin said.

The Listed Rosebud (1200m) at Warwick Farm will be a much tougher assignment for Red Dynamite than his debut with She's A Fox also scheduled to start.

Brown said Red Dynamite was a nice horse in the making.

"He had trialled well both times. Obviously it was a weak race down there but they tell me the second horse goes all right," Brown said.

"He's just a nice horse."

Ameliorate, trained by Guy Walter for Sheikh Mohammed, was the runner-up at Goulburn.

Glamour colts Pierro ($3) and All Too Hard ($4.20) lead the Golden Rose market ahead of Blue Diamond winner Samaready ($6).

She's A Fox is at $26 following her first-up Warwick Farm win.

A number of Golden Rose hopefuls are set to step out at the Randwick barrier trial session on Monday including the Gai Waterhouse-trained Raceway.
