Thursday, 2 August 2012: Australia's champion jet setting jockey Craig Williams returns to action in Victoria with rides at Geelong on Friday and Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Williams, who has travelled the world riding in feature races since March, will make his long-awaited return to Victorian racing at Geelong when he rides the unbeaten Delivery for trainer Robert Hickmott.

He then steps up a gear with five rides on the eight-race card at Moonee Valley, his first metropolitan meeting in Australia since he rode on the final day of the Sydney autun carnival autmn carnival at Randwick on April 28.

The four-time Scobie Breasley medallist began his world travels when he won the AL Quoz Sprint at Meydan in Dubai on World Cup night in March.

He returned to Australia for the Sydney autumn carnival before departing r a contracted three months stint in Japan, interspersed with visits to the UK for feature race rides.

“I always planned that this would be the time to come back after I rode in Japan and Europe,” said Williams, who has enjoyed a holiday since he rode Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden at Ascot in the King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

“I had a really good break. The good part about having a holiday is I can't wait to get back and start doing all the preparation.”

Williams' rides at Moonee Valley start with the Phillip Stokes-prepared Maybe Discreet.

He then partners Rebel Truce for Patrick Payne, the Danny O'Brien-prepared Fomalite,, Philda for Mick Kent and the Sam Pritchard-Gordon-trained import Buxted .

“I've got a few nice rides, it's great to have the support of those trainers, and I'm looking forward to getting back on the track,” Williams said.

Williams intends returning to Japan for another stint after the Melbourne spring carnival.
