Thursday, 2 August 2012: The 2012 Darwin Cup Carnival has been building up since 7th July with the Darwin Guineas and this Saturday sees the Palmerston Sprint and Monday the Darwin Cup itself.
On Saturday there is a 7 race card with the Spring Race 6. It has attracted 12 runners for the 1200m feature.
Visitors and locals have been gearing up with people flocking in from all over Australia and judging by the languages heard on the streets of Darwin there may well be several other countries represented in the attendees.
The Barrier Draw for the Cup will take place on Friday and on Saturday night there's the Darwin Turf Club Gala ball.
The flying horse box has landed safely in Darwin where the weather is virtually perfect and the weekend finale promises the be exciting and we will be bringing all the news to you from the Top End.
