Thursday, 9 August 2012: Frankenfurter looks well placed to break his maiden status in the Penrith Home Maker Centre Maiden Plate (1600m) at Hawkesbury today, after a series of minor placings.

The Peter Snowden-trained runner has been in good form this preparation, finishing second in both runs this time in and has now placed in five of his six career starts.

Sitting up on the pace last time out the four-year-old gelding challenged gamely but was outgunned late by Coup Acclaim , who has since gone on to run a solid second at Newcastle yesterday in metropolitan company to strengthen the form.

The son of Singspiel comes into the race with the highest weight adjusted Timeform figure of the field by some margin, and the addition of the blinkers for the first time should keep his mind on the job.

From barrier five, stable jockey Kerrin McEvoy should have Frankenfurter  up in first four and his last time on a good track he was only beaten 0.2 lengths at Kembla Grange.

The main danger appears to be Paper Heart , who comes into the race with similar form, having placed in four of his five career starts. He ran a nice race behind Dragonzone  last start who has since come out and won again in midweek company.

He does drops back 400m in distance for this and his only time at the trip he placed at Gosford. Trainer Paul Cave has taken the blinkers off and the winkers go on for the first time.

Jockey Grant Buckley has ridden the horse four times, placing in all four and like Frankenfurter, Paper Heart is likely to be there at the finish.

Lightly raced gelding Elusive Sam  drops back in grade for this after a disappointing effort at Wyong last start in metropolitan company. His debut effort was much better and that form will see him in the mix today,

Has not drawn the best in barrier 9 and he is likely to be giving the top couple of chances a bit of a margin on the turn.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Tiger’s Fury will come into the race with some claims after a fair effort at Kembla Grange last start. He will be fitter for the run and will tackle the 1600m for the first time.

He will set a genuine pace in front which is likely to play into the hands of Frankenfurter who will be sitting off the leaders and look to run on over the concluding stages.

Expecting the winner to come from one of these four, with all of them carrying the same weight of 59kg,

Frankenfurter looks the standout and rates well above them here. He knows how to run into the placings and third up here he gets his chance to enter the winners stall for the first time of his career.

Enjoy the race.
