An agreement between Arrowfield Stud and the famous owner and breeder will see Redoute’s Choice shuttle to France to stand at the Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval for the 2013 northern hemisphere season.

Arrowfield’s John Messara said the Redoute's Choice shuttle deal is the result of a long association with the Aga Khan.

"We are particularly delighted with this arrangement not only because His Highness the Aga Khan and some of the world’s most influential breeders will support Redoute’s Choice, but also because we already have the comfort of a strong working relationship with the Aga Khan Studs through our mare ventures," Messara said.

“We think this expanded alliance will give Redoute’s Choice the opportunity to create a truly global legacy.”

Georges Rimaud, manager of the Aga Khan Studs in France said, “We are very excited to have Redoute’s Choice on our stallion roster for 2013.

"We will be sending at least 15 of our own mares to him.

“Redoute’s Choice is the dominant stallion in Australia and he has already, from limited exposure, sired major winners from mares by European stallions such as Kingmambo, Caerleon, Last Tycoon, Rainbow Quest and Nureyev.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to send Northern Hemisphere mares to one of the best stallions in the world today and he will undoubtedly have a strong and lasting impact on the European bloodstock industry and will give an enormous boost to the French breeding industry.”

Redoute’s Choice will join Sea The Stars, Dalakhani, Azamour, Sinndar and Siyouni on the Aga Khan Studs stallion roster in 2013.

His fee has been set at €70,000 with the mares he will cover to be accepted subject to application.

Redoute’s Choice, a Group One winning son of the great international champion sire Danehill, retired to Arrowfield Stud in 2000.

He has twice been the Champion Sire of Australia as well as the Champion Sire of Two-Year-Olds and was the Champion First Season Sire with his first progeny.

He has sired a total of 89 stakes winners to date including 21 individual Group One winners and has progeny earnings of more than $82 million.

In the just completed 2011/12 Australian season Redoute’s Choice was represented by 17 individual stakes winners worldwide including three in Europe from just 12 runners.

He is also proving to be a major sire of sires with 10 of his sons having already produced stakes winners. Six of his sons, including Snitzel, Stratum and Not A Single Doubt, have sired G1 winners.

Redoute's Choice has had 658 yearlings sold to date at an average of $444,700 with 60 of his progeny selling for $1 million or more.

Well he just sired a treble at Warwick Farm, including a pair of stakes winners, so he''s still got it :) ”

Another point to make is that his fertility has not been great in recent years. Are they taking a risk? Are they over using him?
Saying that I hope he sires a champion over there and brings further attention to the breeding industry in Australia. ”

Redoute''s Choice is 16 years old and has served 2,000 mares so it''s hardly a spring chicken they''re sending over. Remember those other wonderful stallions who first came here in their middle age, like Elusive Quality, Hussonet and Woodman? Considering what this horse has meant to Arrowfield and Mr Yasseen it''s a surprising development and perhaps it''s a sign of the times. I won''t buy the ''taking Australia to the world'' line. If that was the case he should have gone six or seven seasons ago when his star was still in the ascendant. At a guess, I''d say the JV between the Aga and Arrowfield hasn''t been any record-breaker and maybe this helps everybody feel happy. ”

Umm I think what''s being done about it is a lot of the major stud farms are now standing derby winners and middle distance performers and supporting them more.
( Monaco consul and lope de vega at patinack . High chaparral and so you think amongst others at coolmore) and the list goes on.. ”

Agree with you patsy re stamina prob and the million dollar question is what is being done about it? ”

If St Nicholas Abbey and Farrh (who have been rolled by So You Think, Danedream, etc.) are the best that can be found to take on Frankel, I wouldn''t be boasting about the depth of English racing ”

incapable of producing good horses??
I''ve never said that..
Just that past a mile your depth is dire, now that AJ is injured we are looking at more joyous a miler as the best hope in a 2000m cox plate..theres problems in the industry in oz past a mile..clearly. ”

but he isn''t randy andy and they don''t !! lol ”

great news, perhaps sea the stars can come down under as a swap and sire us some stayers, but then what would patsy waffle on about if aussie bred stayers started beating the euro "b" grade imports? ”

Posted by Anonymous, on 20-8-2012  8:34:52 AM

How about that? Some, such as Patsy, would have us believe that this part of the world is incapable of producing good horses, yet our sires are now being exported! ”
