Jake Noonan got the better of his fellow apprentices at Caulfield last weekend and will be relying on a Sydney galloper to try to do likewise at Flemington.
Noonan has the ride on the David Payne-trained Winning Glory in Saturday's Rising Stars Final (1800m), restricted to junior riders only.
Payne has Winning Glory entered for both Sydney and Melbourne but says he is leaning towards sending the gelding south.
Winning Glory overcame a wide barrier with a bold frontrunning display at Rosehill last start when piloted to victory by Sydney's champion-apprentice-in-waiting Chad Schofield.
"We've got to look at what suits the horse," Payne said.
"We might go to Flemington for the apprentices' race there instead of running him at Rosehill.
"The horse is very well. He's a really good bread and butter horse."
Noonan, last season's champion Victorian apprentice, won the Travis Harrison Cup (1600m) last Saturday with a confident ride on Sussuro in the apprentices-only event.
